Cheryl came to monthly workshop today and I havent seen her for two months
as she was on holiday at the end of May, so I gave her this card

earlier this month.

Petal Promenade  DSP
and the Number of Years stamp set,
with a die cut 4 from the matching dies.
Matted onto a piec of Mossy Meadow cardstock
then onto  a 7" x 5" base card.

with a Wink of Stella, which unfortunately doesn't show on the photo!
Stamp sets are :
Wood Words - background flowers ,which are stamped in Versamark
and heat embossed with White embossing powder.
The daisy and leaves are stamped with the Daisy Delight stamps
again in Versamark and White embossig powder.
A few tiny rhinestones just finishes it off nicely!

Kathleen's Birthday

Today it's Barry and Chris's cousin, Kathleen's birthday.

Heres the card I have made for her.

The Springtime Impressions Thinlits dies were used to cut out the flowers
with Whisper White card.  These were then inked individually.
using an inkpad and a sponge dauber.
The colours used are Melon Mambo, Coastal Cabana and
Daffodil Delight for the flowers and Granny Apple Green for the leaves.
The sentiment is from Happy Birthday Gorgeous and the background
is just splatters using a little Melon Mambo with water, splattered with a paintbrush!

Mmmm love these colours!
Happy Birthday Kathleen!!

of DSP and some scraps of card and ribbon.
Chris has done a whole series of cards for her ladies doing just that!
She has made some fabulous "bit box cards" and is happy to share them with us!

Thanks for sharing Chris !

Springtime Expressions Thinlits dies embossed!!

Here's a card that Chris and I made yesterday using one of the
Springtime Impressions Thinlits dies to emboss!!
We watched a video on YouTube by Rachel Tessman, who demostrated how dies can be used
to emboss, by using the Sizzix Big Shot for Stampin' Up! Embossing Mats.

I think that the photo shows quite well how crisp the embossing has come out
using the large die from Sprintime Expressions on the Grapefruit Grove Layer.
Whilst the butterfly die from the same set has been die cut using vellum for
the bottom set of wings and Grapefruit Grove for the top set.
Colour combo is Calypso Coral Grapefruit Grove and Black on a
Very Vanilla 7" x 5" base card.
The sentiment is from Love What You Do stamp set.

I am really impressed with the principle of how this works, and will
be trying it out with my other Thinlits dies now!

Chris's Bit Box cards

Today I am going to feature a bit box card that Chris (sis-in-law) has made.

sort of a Guest Design Team member!!

So heres to the first of many bit box cards,
which by the way, Chris donates these to a charity every month.

Springtime Impressions.

Here's a card I made today using the new Springtime Expressions Thinlits Dies.

I used a 7x5 Very Vanilla Base Card with a Mint Macaron layer on top.
A piece of Share What You Love Speciality DSP cut with the
Banner Triple punch at each end was then glued in the middle.
One of the Touches of Texture stamps was used top left and bottom right. .
I then stuck some (retired) Lacy Mint Macaron ribbon around the middle.
The butterfly from Springtime Impressions Thinlits dies was cut with
petal pink card and a matching Share What You Love Artisan Pearl
was stuck on the butterfly's head.
I do love the colour combinations in this DSP, dont you!

Boys Christening Card

Here's my Boy's version of the Christening card
same design, different mat and layering.

This time a White Cross on a layer of Balmy Blue,
on a card base 7" x 5"
Stitched shapes Framelits in Balmy Blue used to stamp sentiment on
and Layering Ovals scalloped oval for underneathit.

I can't decide whether I like the coloured cross on white card (like the Girl's card)
or a white cross on coloured card as above.
What do you think?

Lady Captain's Captains' Day card.

Yesterday was Captains' Day at the golf Club - Waterfront Golf!
The ladies asked if I would make a card for the Lady Captain -
here's what I came up with.

It's an 8" x 8" card (which is not a size that I normally do)
but we needed it large enough for the ladies to write their special messages
to Gail, so I decided it had better be big!
I had some pearlised card blanks that weere 8 x 8, so I used one as the
base card in a paler pink and another card in a deeper shade of pink,
I cut to use as mats on top of the base card.
The papers - Painted with Love Speciality  DSP are sadly now retired,
but I love the richness of the pinks and golds that show up quite well on this photo
The personalised sentiment was computer generated, and the stamp is one
of my growing collection of golfing stamps that I use for various golfing
 occasions or golfers birthdays!
(This is the Stamp that I used to make my own Lady Captain's
greeting cards way back in 2010!!)
I don't think that I blogged it at the time so here's what it looked like!!

I still love pink!!

Girls Christening card.

On Wednesday one of the ladies wanted to make a Christening card,
I showed her what I used to make mine and made another one yesterday afternoon.

Very CAS, the cross was made using Powder Pink card with one of the
Flourish Thinlits dies, by cutting two lengths of the flourish strip.
I then shortened one of them and glued them onto white card to form the cross.
I stamped the sentiment using separate words as I don't have a stamp
with the full sentiment on (apologies if it looks a little crooked).
I then cut this out with the smallest of the oval  Stitched Shapes Frames Thinlits,
and matted it onto a pink scalloped oval.
thids was then glued in the centre of the cross.
The white card with the added cross was then layered onto pink card,
which in turn was matted onto a 7" x 5" Card Base.

I do like the simplicity of this - what do you think?

Bit Box Card # 6 - Dylan's birthday

Today is my great nephew Dylan's 4th birthday.
Here's the card that I made for him using oddments from my bit box.

The DSP was a  retired , odd shaped piece of striped paper
obviously too good to throw away!
The image was already stamped but had an ink splodge on it,
I just cut the image down a tad shorter - splodge gone!
- all I had to do was colour it in, stick it on top of the striped DSP,
layer it onto Old Olive card stock, then onto a 7" x 5"  Card base.
I cut out his name using the retired Little Numbers dies -
you can see they were a perfect fit!

Catherine's 5th Stampin' Up! Anniversary

Yesterday I met up with a friend who is also one of my Stampin' Up! downline, Catherine.
We haven't seen each other in a long time, so it was lovely to meet up and catch up on things.

This is the card that I made her to congratulate her on her
5th Stampin Up Anniversary in March this year.

Most of the products used on this card are retired, but I find them so useful
for doing these Anniversary cards.

Congratulations Catherine, long may it last!!

More Share What You Love Suite.

I do love this suite of papers cards, stamps, embellishments etc.
Its so easy to design a card with all these beautiful products.
Here's my latest....

I have stamped the background in Versamark on mint Macaron card,
using the Love What You Do stampset.
Cut a pearl Doilly in half and placed bottom left and top right.
Matted a piece of the Share What You Love Speciality DSP onto a layer of
Whisper White, then glued on top of the Mint Macaron card.
This was then stockm onto a 7" x 5" White base card.

I think that these colours look lovely - clean and fresh.

A Christmas card!!

I thought that as it was June already, I really ought to
start thinking about making a start on this year's cards.
Here's one that Chris and I made at our last get-together.

The stamp set is "At Home With You" and the dies are the "At Home" Framelits dies.
The brickwork background was made by sponging using one of the
"Pattern Party Decorative Masks"
Colours used areSoft Suede , Cherry CobblerDaffodil Delight and Old Olive.

There we are ... Christmas card number 1!!

Charleen's Pool Party Dragonfly slotted card

Charleen from my Thursday class, wanted to make the Dragonfly slotted card
in a different colourway, and chose to use Pool Party
in place of the Rich Razzleberry.

Here's her version

She added a few extra dragonflies on the side panel
and used pearls instead of the black Rhinestones, as it needed
a more subtle, delicate look for this colour combination.

Thanks for sharing this with us Charleen.
Fabulous colour choice!

Tufted Dynamic Embossing Folder

If you're wondering what fits the description of "Tufted"
have a look at the embossed background of this card to see.
I might describe it as quilted or padded - how would you describe it?

I have stamped the sentiment from "Love What You Do" in Highland Heather ink,
onto a die cut using the Stitched Labels Framelits dies.
I added the little flower spray top and bottom from the old Sale-a-bration
stamp set "Lovely Lavender" and coloured with ink and Aqua painter.
Then I embossed the background using Highland Heather cardstock
with the "Tufted DynamicEmbossing Folder" and I have to say I am pretty impressed!!
Simply matted the "Tufted background onto a 7" x 5" card base,
stuck on the stamped Stitched Framelits die cut
and voila - there you have it- a really quick, but effective card!!
Love it!

Just Because

I like to have a few "all occasion" cards to hand not only for
when you need a card in a hurry, but for those occasions
when there aren't the right words that you want to say stamps!
I find this old retired "Just Because" stamp invaluable,
so I have a few cards made using retired papers as well as
current papers. (because I hold on the beautiful papers
for so long - just looking at them and stroking them and
then can't bear to cut them until the week before they retire usually!!)
Any how...... here's one of the Just Because... cards I have made.

Using the (now retired!!) Petal Passion DSP
Black and White card
Layering Oval Frames Thinlits
Black Ribbon
Smoky Slate Stampin Blends pens
Wink of Stella - on the flowers,  which you may or may not notice!

Chris's Lovely Floral card

This is the same design as the card I did, but Chris used pink
instead of the Rich Razzleberry,

I think the embossing stands out more on the paler card.
Chris used the stamp from Love What You Do for her background,
after three failed attempts at this I plumped for Water Brush and ink!!

(Slotted) Dragonfly Dreams meets Share What you Love

Todays card is one that I had nor seen before, Chris found it on the internet
and we both had a go at making it!
Really pleased with the result and the ladies love it!
Its not as hard as it looks.

------
This shows the card closed and you can hardly see the slot behind the dragonfly

----------
This next one shows the card opening and the dragonfly
disappearing through the slot which you can see pretty clearly
on this photo

-------

And this next one shows the card opened with the dragonfly
inside the card and the slot clearly visible

Isn't it a clever idea, sadly not mine!
Will try to find out whose design we copied to make this
and pop a link on here later!

Lovely Floral Dynamic Embossing Folder

Here's a card I made to showcase the "Lovely Floral" Dynamic Embossing folders
its one that embosses quite deeply, which I think the photo shows.
I wanted to show odff the embossing, so kept the design quite simple.

A Stitched Shape Framelits oval die was cut out of whisper White card stock.
I used a waterbrush and Crumb Cake ink for the background.
Stamped the flower from "Love What You Do" stamp set in black,
then coloured it with Rich Razleberry Stampin Blends Pens.
Just badded a few Rhinestones et voila!!
I love the classy clean and simple effect - dont you?
