WWWU - Sympathy card

I had another sympathy card to make this week , it was for the family of one
of my Stampin' Up! sisters (one of our Julies' Jems family) Doreen.
I always find it difficult to decide what colours to use on a sympathy card,
but our Colour Combo Queen - Julie Wade comes up with some super combinations
for us to use, so I used this weeks colours.
Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Pool Party and Midnight Muse.

The sentiment is from "Love and Sympathy" stamp set.
image from "Hopeful Thoughts" and the background "Hardwood" stamp.

Get well soon Shelli

I was concerned to read this news on the Stampin Up website last Wednesday
"Yesterday, Shelli was involved in a riding accident in southern Utah; the horse she was riding stumbled.
Shelli was taken to the Kanab hospital where X-rays were taken and she was diagnosed
with a fractured pelvis, broken wrist, and broken collarbone.
She is being flown to Intermountain Medical Center and will likely be there for a few days.

Obviously, she is in a great deal of pain but wants you all to know she is fine and
is grateful it wasn't worse. Thank you for your concern and well wishes!"
(Shelli is Cofounder and CEO of Stampin' Up!)

I decided that I would like to send her a get well card to hopefully cheer her up somewhat.

I have used a colour combo of Daffodil Delight, Real Red and Pumpkin Pie.
The stamp set is Flower Shop and I stamped this card using the
baby wipe and re-inker technique.
I punched and shaped 1/2" circles for the centres of the flowers.
The sentiment is from Hopeful Thoughts.
Get well soon Shelli!!

A sympathy card for Sue.

I found out yesterday that my good friend and ex work colleague (who comes to my craft classes)
Sue, lost her Dad at the weekend.  I didn't know that he was ill, so can only assume it was sudden.
I set about making a sympathy card for her, and whilst I was making it, I thought that I really ought to make
another one, so that I am prepared, and not at a loss as to what to make.

Here are the two cards that I made - both very CAS, but made with love.

So now I am at least prepared for one eventuality.
Both cards were made in Black and white only,
using the Flower Shop and Hopeful Thoughts stamp sets.
As I said - very CAS cards.
Thinking of you Sue - in my thoughts and prayers.
Hugs

Sympathy cards.

Yesterday was the funeral of my Auntie, who passed away at the good old age of 88.
Uncle Les died last August and Aunty Hilda just didn't wan't to carry on without him.
So they are re-united again, and leave behind 3 sons - my cousins.
I made each one a sympathy card, all with the same images, but in different colours.
(Needless to say I had to make these specially as I didn't have any made in advance
 - which I do try to do!)
So here they are.

Perfect Plum on Very Vanilla

Night of Navy and White

White and Night of Navy

I cut out an acetate template using one of the Floral Frames Framelits dies.
Placed it on top of my 5"x5" card and then stamped the background using En Francais stampset.
I then got a small piece of sponge and teased the excess ink off the acetate around the
border of the template onto the card, giving a nice neat edge.
I then used one of the Flowering Flourishes stamps at the top,
and the "Thinking of You" sentiment from Hopeful thoughts stamp set underneath.
I have to say that I was pleased with the effect and will now make a couple  more
ready for when needed next time - they are never easy to make.

I'd like to enter these in

Sponge and Spritz

Chris is back from holiday now, so we had our usual play day together!
I have really missed her whilst she has been away, so it was good to have her back
and we have had a good old play today.
One of the techniques we tried out today was featured on Splitcoaststampers
and it's called "sponge and spritz"
Here's the two cards I made

This is sponged and spritzed

This is sponged, but I forgot to spritz!! Doh!!
Colour combo is Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight on the first card
and Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive on the second.
All the stamping was done in Black.
1st card stamp sets are Lovely as a Tree, Best of Flowers and Perfectly penned.
2nd card stamp sets are Hopeful Thoughts, Best of Flowers and Perfectly penned.
The birds are hand drawn!
Really enjoyed making these.

In Sympathy - Hopeful Thoughts

Today I have made a sympathy card for one of my SU customers
whose father-in-law passed away over the weekend.
As I said yesterday, I usually turn to this set (Hopeful Thoughts)
when I need a quick Get Well or Sympathy Card and here's another design.

The colour combo is actually Soft Suede, Early Espresso and Very Vanilla
but in this photo it looks like different shades of gray!
I cut a stencil scallop circle (like in yesterdays card) and ink dusted the centre.
Then stamped the tree, and then split up the sentiment using the stamp-a-ma-jig
to place "Thinking of you" under the tree (RHS) and the "Please know that I care"
underneath the tree trunk and centred horizontally.
Another CAS sympathy card that says it all.

More Hopeful Thoughts

Hopeful thoughts is the stamp set that I turn to for those last minute cards
that you have to make quickly and I tend to use it for Sympathy cards, Get Well cards and generally for the Thinking of You type cards.
Today we have heard that our friend Pat was taken in hospital last night and that she has been kept in for further tests for an irregular heat beat.  This card is winging it's way to her
to let her know that we are thinking of her and hope that she is better soon.

The circular greeting was computer generated on a 6" x 6" card,
then I die cut a scallop Circle template and ink-dusted the scallop circle
using Regal Rose (soon to be retired) ink.
I then inked the flowers with Rich Razzleberry and the branch in Old Olive
using  Stampin' Write marker pens and embellished with tiny rhinestones.
CAS but pretty and thoughtful I think!

Thinking of you card

Here's a sympathy card that I have made for Paula
to let her know that she is in my thoughts at this sad time.

Colour combo is Basic Black and Whisper White.
Stamp set used is Hopeful Thoughts.

Sympathy card for Dale

My baby Sis's partner, Dale, lost his Mum at the weekend and  I have been kept busy trying to help them
as they are also in the process of moving house.
(There's never a good time for anything stressful to happen is there!)
Today was the first opportunity that I had to make a sympathy card for him and his family, and here it is.

A very CAS card - colour combo Basic Gray and Whisper White.
A circular stencil was cut in a sheet of acetate and the shape was ink dusted in Basic Gray Ink.
The branch was then stamped in the circle in Basic Grey as was the sentiment -
both from the Hopeful Thoughts stamp set.
A tiny pearl was then stuck in the centre of each little flower.

Thinking of you

Heard some sad news today about one of our ex work colleagues, Vicky, whose father passed away yesterday.  Made this very clean and simple card to let her know that I am thinking of her.

I have used  a new Die (that you will be able to buy in October) to cut a fancy oval
stencil, then ink dusted it with Cajun Craze, onto a Very Vanilla 7"x 5" base card.
I then inked up the branch stamp from Hopeful Thoughts, using Early espresso  and
Cajun Craze Stampin Write markers.
I added the sentment from the same stampset.
Don't want to add anything else to this - I think it says everything.

A card for Edna

Edna is a past Lady Captain at our Golf Club.
At our Ladies meeting yesterday evening we were told that her husband has terminal cancer -
which came as a shock to all of us.  This couple have served the club for many years
and have always been there for everyone whenever help was needed, and have the respect of all the members of the club.  Our Ladies section thought that it would be nice to send Edna
some flowers and a card to let her know that we were thinking of her.
I volunteered to make a card for her that everyone could sign -
 and this is it.
Inside it reads .... please know that we care.

Colour combo Daffodil Delight, Real Red and Old Olive
Stamp set is Hopeful Thoughts.
Background is ink-dusted Pumpkin Pie ink.
Tiny basic pearls for the flower centres.

Happy (Belated) Birthday Yvonne

Once again I have to confess to being late for one of our Jems' birthdays.
Yesterday it was my SU sister Yvonne's  birthday, and I missed it!
Today I made this card and promptly posted it to her - first class.

Colour combo - Pumpkin Pie, Wild Wasabi and Very Vanilla
Stamp set Hopeful thoughts inked with Stampin Write marker pens
The background is ink-dusted very lightly in Pumpkin Pie.
Basic Pearls for the flower centres.

Hope you had a great birthday Yvonne!!

Get well Patrick

Our good friend and golfing buddy, Patrick, was admitted to hospital with Meningitis, in Portugal,
the day before Barry and I flew out to join him and his partner Jan for a much needed holiday.
He has been very ill (indeed he still is )and everyone has been praying for his speedy return to health.
We stayed with Jan in Portugal until last Wednesday, and were relieved to hear that he would be transferred by air ambulance back to the UK on Saturday.
He was flown to Doncaster yesterday afternoon and then taken to Barnsley hospital, where he
is now resting after a very tiring journey.  He is still in a coma, but there has been
a slight improvement in his condition over the last two weeks and he still has a long way to go.
Here's the card that I have made for him.  It's a stamp-set that I use a lot for Get-well and
thinking of you cards - Hopeful Thoughts.  The colour combo is Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler
and Very Vanilla.  For the corner swirls I have used a stamp from Vintage Vogue
 - another well used stamp-set!!
The message says it all Patrick - Get well soon!!

Speedy recovery card for Stuart

Here's the card that I made to hopefully cheer up Stuart and wish him a speedy recovery.
He is certainly not over the worst, as he faces the prospect of open heart surgery, but thankfully he is holding his own at the moment.
This is a card that I have made before, using the Owl punch and the sentiment is from Hopeful Thoughts.

Hopeful Thoughts

Sorry for the very late posting.
Sis Anne-Marie and I went for a 7.1/2 mile walk this afternoon and came home exhausted at 7:00 p.m! Then I had my Wednesday Craft Class, so only just got round to posting this card.
I found out today, that my dear schoolfriend Elizabeth's father has recently died and it was his funeral yesterday, so I have made this condolence card for her.
Once again I have used the Hopeful Thoughts stampset, but I have shortened the branches to fit the smaller square on this card. Very simple, in Night of Navy and Whisper White, and the Polka dot Embossing folder used again.
Don't know if you can see the tiny pearls in the centre of the flowers?

Cousin Josie's sympathy card

We only found out yesterday that cousin Josie's husband (Tom) died at the weekend, so having used the Hopeful Thoughts stampset recently, thought that I would do a sympathy card using this.
Colour Combo is Basic Black, Whisper White and Sahara Sand - used the inkdusting technique again.

Hopeful Thoughts

I do love this stampset and use it for both sympathy cards and get well cards plus the occasional "Thinking of you" card. It lends itself to all of these.
This is the card I have made for my fellow Jem, Evelyn, who is going in hospital today, so I hope that it cheers her up.
The colour combo is Baja Breeze, Sahara Sand, Old Olive and Whisper White - not a combo I have used together before, but I quite like it - don't you?
