SU Desk Calendar

Here's the pictures of the desk calendar I have made today.

This was made using a stamp class instruction sheet from Jenni Moore. Isn't it fabulous - Thanks Jenni.

Christmas Cards

Hi there
thought that I would post these piccies of this year's SU Christmas cards that I have made. I used the same basic template, but just changed the colours. Was quite pleased with the results.
I am suffering from withdrawal symptoms with not being able to play golf due to the weather. The good thing is that I have been able to concentrate on my SU samples. Today I have made a desk calendar that will be a Craft class project in January.

Pocket Silhouettes

Hi there - long time no post.

I have just purchased the instructions to make this lovely set of cards, so we will be doing these in our Craft classes in the New Year. I have got to try out Julies instructions first to check them out for her - might do this tomorrow as I have only got an appointment at the hairdressers in the afternoon.
I think that these are great don't you?
I have finished all my Christmas cards now, so I can relax a little. I have also all but finished the pressie wrapping. All the washing has been done, but I still have a bit of ironing to do (yuk).
Am looking forward to playing with all my gorgeous new stamps that I received as my "Stampin Start" reward - 3 free sets!!
Have you seen what the next Stampin Up promotion is?

I shall be having an "open house" in January to give all my favourite customers the opportunity of seeing for themselves what lovely cards can be made with these FREE stamp sets on offer during Sale-a-bration (from 30th December to 28th February)

Where has all the time gone?

Can't believe that the last time I posted was the 29th!!
Well you may recall that I placed an order that day (November workshop and 5 for a fiver items I needed) Well believe it or not but I have NOT received this order yet. Its been a complete fiasco! There was a stocktake at SU on the 1st and 2nd of December which prevented orders being processed, then there was an IT problem that has caused me grief. Aopparently when the system restarted, it proicessed the newest orders first instead of the oldest orders first (i.e. mine!!) Subsequently, despite 3 emails and phone calls, my order was not despatched until WEDNESDAY EVENING 9th December. I was appalled and annoyed. Anyway, demo support assured me that it was despatched Wednesday night and gave me a tracking number yesterday to follow its progress from Frankfurt!! It SHOULD be with me today, so I am not leaving the house until it arrives. With the luck I have been having, it will come at 7 o'clock tonight.
Anyway - very very brief update of progress.
Monday 30th - Monday Club Golf, shopping in ntheafternoon - got a few pressies, and in the evening the Thursday Craft Class came (as Thursday is Presentation night at the Golf Club)
Tuesday friend Jackie cam to me (so Tuesday craft class was cancelled) and we had lunch at Brewers Fayre where we partook of our favourite beer battered cod with chips n mushy peas! Had a lovely get together, took her to the market where she bought some pillow cases and I introduced her to Keith! That evening was our DV reunion Christmas Dinner at the Sandygate at Wath. It was great to get together again.
Wednesday, couldn't meet Christine this week as I was taking Mary (Lady Captain) to choose a gift on behalf of the ladies at the Golf Club. She chose a beautiful Rotary watch with matching bracelet. Bought a few bits from M & S and then had a coffee abnd went back to the golf club to make arrangements for Thurday evening's Presentation evening. Wednesday Craft Club - made a SU card in shades of green.
Thursday morning I had my Swine-flu injection, which didn't hurt at the time, but left me with a small lump, which was quite sore for about 5 days after! Then off to the Golf Club to help Mary and Hazel set up all the tables and trophies ready for the evening. Left about 1 o'clock and had a light lunch and made a few cards. Took Barry to Barnsley, then picked Maggie up and off to Presentation Evening. I had two medals to collect and we had a lovely buffet!.
Friday I spent most of the day preparing for 4 "FIVE FOR A FIVER" classes (Monday Tuesday Weds and Thurs (7th 8th 9th and 10th Dec). Took Steve shoppong later, then had a relaxing evening and made a few Christmas cards for myself.
Saturday morning - Christmas Cracker golf with the Ladies followed by a sandwich in the Club House. Secret Santa Gifts opened and exclaimed over. Then back home to shower and change and glam up for the Candlenight Gourmet Dinner at the Masonic Hall at Eastgate. Just to bore you with the details here is the menu. Sherry on arrival.
Grilled goats chees with red onion Marmalade. Cream of tomato soup. Fillet of plaice with parsley sauce. Fillet of beef with red wine jus. Lime sorbet.Breast of roast duck with orange sauce OR poached salmon with prawn sauce, red cabbage and apple, carrots julienne and new potatoes. Brandy snap rolls filled with whipped cream OR Creme Brulee ORMeringue basket with raspberries ORLemon Syllabub OR Sherry trifle. Cheese board n celery. Hot mince pie. Coffee. Port or Cointreau. We were all given a glass of champagne to celebrate an absent couples Golden Wedding (they were on a cruise and wanted us to have a tost to celebrate their anniversary)
All in all a truly magnificent meal. I now weigh half a stone heavier.
Sunday - housework, washing and ironing. Shopping at JTF with barry in the afternoon, then home for Dinner about 5:30 then last minute prep for the five for a fiver events.,
Monday after Monday club golf and a little shopping, wrapped up most of Steve's Christmas pressies for him. Spent some time on the phone trying to organise a changeover of his Internet and telephone provider. Managed to persuade Sky to let him have sky plus free of charge, with a one off charge of £29 towards the cost of the sky plus box, as he has been a sky customer for 20 years and has had no loyalty offers at all. (Had to threaten to cancel to get this!) Got details from them on what to do to migrate his internet stuff from AOL to Sky, but ran out of time, as had to take Barry to Barnaley for 6:30. That evening was Thursday Craft Classes five for a fiver night - everyone enjoyed the night and loved their cards.
Tuesday I spent a lot of time on the telephone at Stevies, where a chap from AOL had me running all around the houses for a migration code, saying they would email Steve in 5 days time. I rang them back and spoke to someone else who gave me a code over the phone!!Then Sky gave me good service, but took ages to sort out the arrangements for Steve's router to be delivered, an installation date and the phone line rental to be changed over. Phew - was exhausted!! Had to dash home for Tuesday Craft Class five for a fiver event. After this dashed off the market where I bought some Cuttlebug Dies from Keith , then another dash to Blood Donors at Wombwell, then off to Barnsley to exchange a faulty Christmas gift for Steve (Maggies). Was supposed to have met up with Jo and Aly in Meadowhall this afternoon, but they cancelled the day before. Gave me a chance to have a little browse for more pressies. Home for dinner then another dash off to the Golf Club for a Committee meeting! What a lot of dashing!
Wednesday Chris came over to ours and we went to Wath to pick up some envelopes from Keith (at Wath) that I coulodn't get yesterday. He didn't have the ones I needed, so I ended up buying a pack of cheap cards for a £1 in order to use the envelopes!)
Made a lovely dinner for barry and me - chicken stir fry - yummy. Wednesday five for a fiver class went without a hitch.
Thursday had a lazy morning and played battleships online! Great fun. Had lunch, then tidied up craft room and conservatory ready for Thursday's five for a fiver. 6 ladies who are not in my weekly craft classes came to this - 4 novices. Michelle and Emma helped with two ladies and I looked after the other two. Excellent cards were made mby everyone! An exhausting week in all, and only 2 classes/fuddles next week, then its a break of Christmas and reconvene next year!
Thats all the progress update - you can see why i haven't had time to update before now!

Just for you Chris!

I didn't realise that it is over two weeks since I put any real news on here - so here is a mammoth update.
Saturday 14th November - Nephew Stephen's wedding reception Stephen and Sarah married the Saturday before at Gretna Green and they had their reception for all the family on the 14th. (Stephen is sister Maggie's son and Sarah is Stephen's 2nd wife).
Had an enjoyable evening, but Maggie was upset because their minibus was a whole hour late picking them up. Don't use Elite taxis - they let you down!
Even worse, when they were picked up (late again) they were dropped off at home and someone realised that the letter box with all the wedding cards (containing money) in it, had been left in the minibus/van. Phone calls to Elite reassured them that the box would be quite safe in the taxi, and they would be able to pick up the box in the morning. Next morning, guess what - the taxi had been "broken into" overnight and surprise surpeise - all the money had gone and the cards had been left! Don't use Elite Taxi's. I am not sure what has happened since on this one, I know that the police were advised but not much else. Needless to say Maggie and Ger (and Stephen and Sarah) have been understandably upset about this. Maggie and Ger have had a well earned holiday in Tenneriffe and I haven't had chance to have a catch up with Maggie yet to find out anything more.
Nothing much different happened during the week other than spent Monday at home instead of golfing with the Monday club as we had Cavity wall insulation done.Tuesday Craft class as normal. Wednesday Christine (s-i-l)came to me and we visited Dimension 4th at Barnsley and treated ourselves to some Promarkers then home to make the Trendy trees card (yummy) Wednesday and Thursday Craft class as normal. Friday was Classique for my facial and usual Friday night shopping with brother.
Saturday morning (21st) it was foggy and damp so didn't golf, but Barry went on his own brave soul! Christine (s-i-l) and I went up to Pudsey to join Julie's Stampin Up Class and made eight cards in 2 hours!! These are fabulous cards and I will be "case"ing (Copy and share everything) some of these for my 5 for a fiver class!!.
Saturday evening it was Barnsley and Penistone Masonic Association annual social at Cockerham Lane, so another evening of fab food and fun (Barry did a lot of dancing tonight so it was extra enjoyable).
Sunday was another wet and miserable day so I made stew and dumplings for Sunday dinner and it was scrumptious - truly truly scrumptious! I spent an hour sweeping up all the wet and soggy leaves from the pavement at the front whilst Barry went to B& Q to buy fixings to repair the dining room door handle.I started prepping the cards for my 5 for a fiver event and planned what I need to order from SU for this.
Prepped cards for this weeks classes - had a most productive day!.
Monday 23rd did 14 holes of golf with the Monday Club ladies (Joan H and Jan) then had a late lunch with them. Went to Morrisons for a little shopping, then down to Joan C's house to help her with a few PC problems she has (PC as in Personal Computer - not politically correct I might add!)
Tuesday usual routine - Keith's market stall - bought some more red card (for my Christmas cards!!) and a couple of cuttlebug dies and embossing folders. Then Aquarobics and Card Class. Took car to Lineside to see if they could fix the door switch that Christine (s-i-l) had vandalised last Wednesday when we went to Dimension forth!!. They ordered me a new switch ready to fit the next day.
Made one dozen Christmas cards Tuesday evening - felt good - only another 9 dozen to make!! I am using a simple template and mass producing these in different colourways.
Wednesday I went to Christines (s-in-l) and we made two beautiful SU cards using the pocket sillhouettes stamp set. They were beautiful though I say it myself. Will do a class on these as soon as my next order gets here- possibly not this year as there are not enough weeks left! Something to look forward to next year! Had a lovely lunch - stir fried chicken and veg - yummy, then straight to Lineside for switch to be fitted - not too painful - only cost £9.99. Home and dinner for Barry and me - guess what I had made earlier for tea? Chicken casserole - but it was still yummy- no wonder Barry and i are putting on weight! Wednesday Craft Class did two Christmas cards that are easy to utilise for other occasions, not just Christmas.
Thursday was housework day - 2 loads of washing and another load to iron. Had to dry them on the radiators and in the tumble-drier so that I could get all the ironing done and out of the way. Thursday evening craft class went with a bang - literally! My pump-flask that we use for the hot water for the coffee and tea, imploded as soon as I picked it up! Boiling water all over the kitchen floor! What a mess. Decided to take it back to Argos and see what they would do.
Friday - you wouldn't believe what I crammed in on Friday! 9:00 a.m. picked up brother Steve and went to Barnsley where we had bacon butty and mug of tea, then started the annual expedition in search of Steve's Christmas presents for family and friends. Purchased all but one (Barry's) then home for lunch- tea and toast - couldn't eat too much as it was Ladies Night that evening. Phoned baby brother up (Chris) for recommendations on which laptop Steve should buy. Did the deed online, then charged off to Meadowhall Retail Park to pick it up from PC world. Back home to ours to use our wireless router to download MS security essential onto it, left it downloading whilst we then went for his weekly grocery shop at Morrisons. Whilst Steve shopped I went into Argos and was quite surprised to find (though I don't know why)to get a full cash refund for my broken pump-flask as they were unable to locate another locally. Took a phone call from Barry, who was trying to get 3 more people to come to Ladies Evening as for various reasons 3 people couldn't make it. We managed to "persuade" Christine and David and Michelle (golfing) to join us for a free dinner dance at Ardsley House.
Picked up Steve's laptop from ours (now fully secure) and dropped him and shopping off at his, then back home, had a quick shower, washed hair then changed into going out gear and went to hairdressers (with wet hair!) for party style hairdo - its just the usual style but with gold glitter added! Home again for make up and then ready for the off.
Had a great evening and I am sure that everyone else did. I had the mushroom strogonoff just for a change and it was delicious. Ladies gift was a lovely scarf which was most acceptable. I drove everyone back to ours, we had a drink, then Michelle left for home and Christine and David stayed over at hours.
Saturday morning - wet and miserable and I HAD to go golfing as Glynis and I were playing in the Crowther doubles matchplay against Mary (lady Captain) and Hazel. It was hard work, but we eventually won on the 17th with two up and onlyone to play. We all went into the clubhouse and had hot drinks and sandwiches before setting off back home. Barry and I went to Costco at Sheffield (Parkway)to buy a new pump flask for me and to get one for SU Julie for when she gets her new craft studio! Wasn't tempted to buy anything else but enjoyed sampling various food and drinks whilst there!! After Costco we then drove over to Docaster to Direct Golf where we both bought a few bits and bobs, then home (via Morrisons for fresh bread and ham)for a much needed tea. Relaxed with a few silly games on the laptop, caught up with Corrie, then into craft room to decide on what stuff to order for my 5 for a fiver class. Put together my order online with SU, can now sit back and wait for it to arrive.
This morning I have got up and watched Friday's I'm a celebrity (out of order I know! and sat updating this blog. Today I am only doing crafting and dinner!
See ya!

Last old style posting

Well folks, I am going to redesign my blog and try to make it look a little more business like! So here is the last of the old style postings for you.....
Sunday lunchtime I picked Anne-Marie and Dale up from the trains station at Wombwell and took them up to ours. I started preparing the dinner and Adam and Katy came up to see Anne-Marie. Later on Adam took her to John's place to see him again. We had tea, then relaxed until 7:30 when Barry went and fetched Mag, Ger and Stevie. Adam and Katy came down and we had a select little gathering to celebrate AM's birthday. we had a lovely evening and AM got a little tipsy!!
Monday morning, I droppred AM and Dale off at Hoyland Common whilst I went to Pudsey (is that how you spell it?) I went to Julie's to make a sample board displaying all the colour range of SU papers, markers and inkpads. Julie also showed us how to make a little gift box. Went home and picked AM & D up from Teresa's and then they gathered all their bits up (only 5 bags!!) and I took them back to the train station.
Monday evening I had Thursday Craft Class (because I had an evening do booked for this Thursday) We did the CC scalloped aperture card and once again everyone enjoyed it.
Tuesday morning, went to Keiths early doors (had had a text from Jill saying that they had some Nestabilities in!) and bought a few nesties, then dashed back home for Tuesday Craft Class. Did the same card with them as the Monday Class.
Chris B came over after work, and after a quick tea, we set off for Goole, for my SU training meeting. We had a lovely time, making a couple of cards and a gift box, and Monica very kindly gave us one of her convention swaps - a lovely decorated ruler! Came home very tired, but very happy!
Wednesday, was my turn to go to Christines, and we made a "Magnolia" sat on bauble Christmas card. She loaned me a card that she had made at a workshop so that I could do a class with it (which we did that evening with the Wednesday Class) and I promised to lend Chris my bauble stamp in return. Wednesday Craft class went very well with everyone being well pleased with their "crossover" card.
Thursday morning, I woke up feeling dreadful. I had a really bad head and felt quite sick, was sneezing and coughing, and felt generally unwell. Barry and I had to go to Sheffield for Aunty Renie's funeral, so I dragged myself out of bed to attend this, then left as soon as was decently possible. Barry took me home, and I got undressed and fell asleep whilst he went back to work. Thursday evening there was a Ladies after lodge at Eastgate, so once again, I dragged myself off the sofa and went out. I felt consiferably better for having company, but was glad to get back home and get to bed.
Today, I have picked up Stevie and we have been to Barnsley for a little shop. On the way to Barnsley I was stopped by the police (who were stopping all the vehicles- I might add) for a "winter check" They checked tyres, headlights, brakelights indicators (and I demonstrated that the windscreen wipers worked fine too - by mistake!) They asked when my car had it's MOT done and I said I thought it was August, apparently they could not find a record of it on the computer, so asked me to take my MOT certificate to Wombwell Police station. The policeman did say that he believed me when I said it had a valid certificate, he said I had an honest face!!! I told him that we would be late getting to Barnsley to go to M& S for the latest penny bazaar bargains! When we did get to barnsley, we had to queue up out the door of M&S but did manage to get five things for a penny apiece, plus a donation to charity! After M & S we went to the market cafe and had a cuppa and a bacon butty - mmm that was delish! Then we went round the market, into Boots and poundland (cos I can't resist this) then a couple more shops then back home. We had a drink, picked up the MOT certificate, called at Stevie's and picked up Katie, then set off to do the grocery shopping at Morrisons. We stopped off at Wombwell police station and I produced my MOT for them, then did the shopping and came home. This means that I don't have to go out again tonight, I can just get into my PJs after tea and relax all evening. Benidorm has finished now, so I will miss watching it. Wonder whats on in its place?
Anyway thats all for now, Please keep reading this blog cos it won't all be business - indeed it might turn out totally different- anything could happen!

See ya!

Golfing again

Well it's been a beautiful day for golf and I have really enjoyed the fresh air. It got a bit cold towards the end of the round, but was really bracing. Did a reasonable front 9 but once again the back 9 was absolute rubbish. Stayed and had a sandwich at the club house whilst I waited for Mary (Lady Captain) to finish her round, then had a quick word before going back home.
On Wednesday I had decided not to go to the Heritage, as Christine was coming over for the day, so I thought that I would save the visit until Thursday. Instead I made Maggie's and Ethan's Wedding Cards for Stephen and Sarah and made a start on mine and Stevie's at the same time. Nicky came to collect his cards before the ladies came for our Wednesday Craft Class. We did the bauble aperture card and once again had very satisfactory results.
Thursday morning Christine came over and we started off at the Heritage Centre where I spent a small amount and Chris spent an even smaller amount. We then went to the Blue Bell and had a very pleasant lunch. Then back home and I went to the Hairdressers for my hair cutting, and we both had a cup of coffee there with Michelle and Gemma. Back home we made sure that we had all the stuff we needed for our night at the WI at Ingbirchworth where we were making Christmas cards. We didn't have time to play with our purchases, wwe just had a quick sandwich, then dropped Barry off in Barnsley and went on to Ingbirchworth. Most of the ladies were very pleasant and really enjoyed the cardmaking. Apparently one lady declined the opportunity and just sat and watched everyone else! After we had finished it was time for a welcome cup of tea and a fresh homemade buttered scone for me - Chris has far more determination than me and just had the cuppa! We then went home, in the dark, and it was quite foggy by then. Was glad to get home, and felt sorry for Chris having to drive down the motorway back to hers.
Friday was a very lazy day, spent doing a bit of housework, a bit of TV watching, a little bit of playing silly games on the computer and a little bit of crafting. Usual fish and chips for tea - Barry doesn't let me down! Took Steveie shopping then settled down to watch Benidorm - it was the last in the series - will miss it next week. Had a nice cuppa tea, then went to bed.
This evening, I have been to Morrisons, to fetch some bits and bobs, plus a birthday cake for Baby sister Anne Marie, who is coming up from Manchester tomorrow and staying overnight. We are having a little family celebration for those of us who can make it (Jane's in London and won't get back in time). I have done really well craft-wise tonight, I have made a birthday card, a golden Wedding card and a Silver Wedding card. One of these days I will get organised and post photos of these things as I make them!
Thats enough for now - tarra!

Where do the days go?

Hi again. On Sunday, what a dismal wet day that was - I went over to Heathers and she took me to Costco so that I knew where it was and what to do. Had my photo taken for my card then we spent some time, me looking round and Heather doing shopping. We did get a real bargain though - 2 chickens priced at £6.49 with 50% off, so you can guess what we've been eating for the past few days!! I have made a chicken in red wine casserole and chicken curry as well as having plain roast chichen on Sunday!! Think that barry's fed up with chicken now - although it is far healthier than red meat! Sunday evening packed up all my stuff and finished the make and take preparation and made Heathers demo thank you card.
Monday, went to Morrisons early doors to get flowers for Heather as a thank you for the workshop. Then over to Jackies for our regular get together. As it was another wet and windy day we didn't go out, we just sat and chatted, catching up with the news. Tom once again prepared us a lovely lunch and for desert we had a super pudding topped with Tom's homemade lavender ice-cream. I can thoroughly recommend this! Back home, Barry's tea made, set off to Heathers for her workshop. Had tea with Heather, John, James,Amy and friend - guess what we had? Yup - chicken - it was delicious and I hadn't had to cook it so it was even more enjoyable.
There were quite a few people turned up for the workshop, and we did have an enjoyable time despite there not being many crafters there, as the sales reflected. Everyone really enjoyed their make and take, it was the first time that a lot of the people had tried stamping, and they were well impressed with the punches. However it was a good evening and I did see Liz and Winnie (ex DV colleagues) and it was good to see them again. Went home and was utterly shattered so flopped on sofa and Barry and i watched Flashforward together, then Corrie, then off to bed.
Tuesday morning, once again a wet and dismal morning, so I didn't venture out until after craft class. We made a Christmas aperture card, which was quite complicated, but everyone managed to complete it and was quite happy with their results. Liz and I went on to the market to see what Keith had to offer. Bought some spray adhesive, but was annoyed that I had not gone earlier when he said that he had had some Christmas nestabilities that morning, but they had all (obviously) been sold. That'll teach me to get out and about early never mind the weather! Back home Liz and I both relaxed with a sandwich and a well earned cuppa and I enjoyed hearing all about her recent holiday in Brazil (She's been away for 3 weeks the lucky thing!)
Last night Jane came down to spend the evening with me so we had a relaxing evening, catching up on all the news, and I showed her the tri shutter card, which she made (with the use of the SU guillotine ) and was well impressed with how easy it was, and how quick to make the card. She was thrilled with the card and it really was beautiful - all lilac and pink and flowery - just my sort of card. Went to bed not long after Jane had left - quite an early night really.
Today I have the day to myself - can't decide whther or not to go to the Heritage Centre or not - I'll only spend if I go. I have to put inserts in three cards that Nicky is collecting this evening so I had better go and do this now whilst I remember.
See ya!

Golf again.

Well Ashley and i had a fabulous, if somewhat exhausting walk on Thursday. She drove us to South Cave and then we commenced an 8 mile (ish) walk, It was quite strenuous as there was quite a bit of uphill hauls. Just after halfway we decided to have lunch, but couldn't find a bench to sit on, so we both sat perched on stones. and ate home made bread, homemade leek apple and smoked bacon soup, followed by Ashley's famous muesli slice. Yummy - almost worth the walk!! 100 yards on, after setting off again, we happenned across a bench - would you believe it! Anyway we carried on and enjoyed the walk on that fabulous autumn afternoon, couldn't believe how warm it was. By the time we had driven back to Ashleys, then had a cup of tea and driven home, Barry had already got home and made his own tea - so that saved me a job! Prepped the cards for the Thursday craft class, everyone came that night and we made the beautiful bauble card again - even bah humbug Chris loved it!!(My apologies to Chris)
Friday morning was catch up with the housework day. Did 3 loads of washing (where does it all come from??) and dried most of it on the radiators as it didn't look too promising and I wanted to go shopping to Barnsley, so daren't leave washing out. Didn't spend a fortune in Barnsley, but did buy 5 rolls of ribbon (about 100 metres on each roll) for £1 each! Barry fetched fish and chips in for tea then Barry took Steve shopping and I fetched him back. I then settled down in the craft room to watch Corrie and Eastenders, whilst sorting out the monthly SU order for our craft group. At 9:00 o'clock I joined Barry in the lounge to watch the weekly episode of Benidorm - its hilarious. After that I went to bed, completed a Sudoku puzzle then off to sleep.
Golf this morning, bright and early, once again it was a beautiful morning. Played the front 9 excellently - a net 48, then my game went downhill steadily on the back 9. In fact I had to leave the course in a hurry after the 16th to pay a visit! Went on to the market to pick up some black card I had ordered off Keith then back home for a late lunch. I am now going to sort out a make and take for Heather's SU workshop on Monday night - I won't have time in the daytime as I am over at Jackie's on Monday.
Thats all for now!

Promotion

Hi all - forgot to tell you that I have been promoted - I am now a bronze 2 SU Demonstrator!! Applause applause! I did my first "real" workshop yesterday, at Christine's and it was really good, sold £350 which was super! It was hard work at the end, sorting out the money and checking the orders, but it was all worthwhile! One of Chris's friends (Wendy) came along just to make the tea and coffee, which was very kind of her! So all in all, the time I spent preparing for this on Tuesday night (including an on-line pep talk from Julie)was time well spent and Heather's workshop on Monday should be a better one for the experience!!
Was shattered when I got back from Chris's and had to make a quick tea for Barry n me cos it was craft class. (I had done all the prep for this on Tesday nigfht as well) so I could chill for half an hour before the ladies came. New lady joined us last night - Jan, a colleague of mine and Barry's, and I think she enjoyed making the two bauble cards. One was a hand stamped and coloured bauble card, the other was an "assembled" quick card with die cut baubles on it. Will post pictures if I get time after my walk with Ashley today!
Well, must get off and get dressed and get myself over to Ashley's for my monthly expedition to who knows where!
Talk later!

Update

Saturday was a lovely day - even though it rained! I had a quick lunch then went to the market and bought some supplies from Keith. Met two friends there - Tonia from DV and good friend Heather. Helped Heather choose supplies for her craft stand in the P.O., then I was bamboozled into going to Penistone with her, to see an Embroiderers Guild exhibition there. Surprisingly, I quite enjoyed it - there were some beautiful items on display. I bought some lace sugar bowl covers and the usual mandatory raffle tickets- can't have won anything though as I haven't had a phone call!! Had a cuppa and a piece of lovely home baked cake - was tempted by the cakes and bought some to take home!. When I got home, I decided to go to Tesco and have a leisurely shop. Bought a polo neck jumper (for golf), a dress, four t-shirts for Barry and a green cardigan - as well as a load more groceries, even though I had been shopping with Stevie the night before!! After a late tea cum supper, I decided to tidy up the craft room as I couldn't find something I was looking for! (Does that sound familiar?). Then off to bed.
Sunday morning, got up bright and not too early- checked emails etc and had breakfast, put television on and couldn't understand why the program listings were strange. I had only totally forgotten to put the clocks back hadn't I! Another CRAFT moment! (For those not in the know - can't remember a flipping thing). I phoned up brother and bent his ear for not ringing me up to confirm that it was this weekend that we put the clocks back - we had had a conversation on Friday about whether it was this weekend!
Had a general tidy up and put away clean laundry after ironing. Watched a little televison and played silly computer games, then decided to have something to eat - well a woman has to eat doesn't she! Barry arrived home around 7:00 p.m from his golfing weekend, didn't have to cook for him as he had eaten after golf.
Prepared make and takes for Christine's SU workshop on Wednesday, then made two cards, one was a card order for Nicky, the other for a SU colleague, then finished the last of the card samples for CCC ready to post on Monday.
Monday - was golf with the Monday Club at 10:00 - played with Ann and Ev, only did 11 holes as I had a new appointment for a facial at Classique at 1:30. Parcelled up samples for CCC and took them to Post Office. Had tea then played silly game on computer before having a pre-arranged on-line chat with my SU colleagues Julies Jems. There were only five of us, but it was nice to talk to them and get to know a little about them all. We talked about the upcoming special offer for Christmas and how to promote it, also about Julies upcoming role in Footloose (performing in May next year) Made arrangements to meet up with Sarah and Julie in Leeds after Julie gets back from the SU Convention in Germany, and also arranged to go to one of Julies card classes in November. After we all signed off I joined Barry in the lounge and we watched Flash Forward together - it's getting quite tense now!!
Have got up this morning and its dull and miserable, so I don't feel like doing Step, Gym or Aquarobics, so I think I will give them a miss today. Instead, I'll go and get everything ready for my craft class then perhaps pop on to the market to see if Keith has anything new to tempt me with.

A lonely weekend

Wednesday morning, good to their promise, the new battery and charger arrived,so I set up the battery on charge and kept my fingers crossed that this would fix the problem. Checked the internet to track my SU parcel (for the replacement french stamps!)and it was due for delivery that day,so I stayed in all afternoon, but the parcel didn't turn up. Made tea for Barry n me and then checked tracking -only to find that the flippin parcel had never been put on the van! Wednesday Craft Class only Mary n Gail there (Louise and Glynis will be back next week and new lady - Jan will be here next week. Made the Christmas tri-shutter card - both excellent results-good students!
Thursday morning, picked Ann up at the Golf Club and we set off to meet Mary and Hazel at Pike Hills Golf Club. Had the mandatory bacon butty and coffee before we started then played 18 holes, 2 ball better-ball matchplay, Hazel & Mary versus me & Ann. My battery functioned exceedingly well, so I don't know whether it was the battery or the charger that was the problem! It was a very close match and Hazel & Mary won us on the last hole(but only because I played the wrong ball and we forfeited the last hole!) After the game we had a lovely meal, Hazel and I had steak, Ann & Mary had fish pie- there was enough food to feed a family of eight!! Dropped Ann off at the Golf Club, then back home ready for Thursday Craft Class.
A card had been left from UPS saying that they had not been able to deliver my parcel as I was not at home. I got on the phone and played my piece with the girl who answered, explaining that I have signed an authorisation for my parcels to be left in a safe place when I am not in.She said she would try to get them to redeliver that evening, but I did not hold out much hope.
Gill and Beth couldn't make Class, so Heather,Chris and Sue made another Tri shutter card but H & C made a birthday version. They all looked beautiful! I think all my students are pretty quick learners!! (As expected the parcel did not arrive that evening)
Friday, I had appointments at Classique for a facial and the hairdressers. My parcel arrived in the morning, I took Stevie shopping and then had a quick lunch and went to Classique. When I got there,Phil was running late so I asked her to rearrange the appointment for next week. I went to the hairdressers then after a quick shower, got changed and ready to go out. Barry and I met up with Christine, David and Janice at the Prince of Wales at Millhouses. The meal was passable-just, David's was inedible, so he sent it back. By the time the replacement came he no longer wanted to eat,so they gave him a free sweet, then we all went home.(Don't think we will be going there again!).
Barry packed all his golf stuff ready for his golfing weekend with the ROGS,whilst I watched Emmerdale (sky +) then we both watched Corrie and I went to bed.
This morning I have done the washing and put it on the radiators to dry as it has not stopped raining all morning. I am definitely not playing golf in the rain!
Barry has gone on his golfing Weekend and won't be back until tomorow evening. I am going to go to Tescos to buy Barry some new tee shirts this afternoon, after I have been to the market to checkout Keith's for bargains! Then I am going to do another sample for CCC and prepare some make and takes for Chris's SU workshop on Wednesday.
Hasta la vista!

Wednesday 21 October 2009

Wot Wednesday again!!

Well most things went as planned. Saturday Ladies night went well, Barry and I did quite a bit of dancing, must learn to jive though. Got up at crack of dawn Sunday morning to go to Belton Woods for our 2 days of golf and overnight stay. We played the lakes course on Sunday and both Barry and I lost a couple of balls to the lakes. My battery packed in on the 12th, so I had to push the ruddy trolley for the rest of the round. Really enjoyed the course, but didn't play too well, although I won a fiver for nearest the pin on the 17th. After the golf we were starving - fancy that. had a quick sandwich and a coffee - cost an arm and a leg! Then I went for a swim and Barry went for a kip. Off to dinner after that - excellent meal. Only had a starter and sweet cos the starters were fabulous. It was a buffet and carvery, so you just helped yourself. We went back to our room, watched TV for a while, then bed.
Monday was the Woodlands course and it looked fabulous with all the beautiful autumn coloured leaves on the trees. The only downer was my trolley battery only made it to the first tee! It was really hard work pushing the trolley round that course. Despite this I still enjoyed the game, but didn't play too well again. Barry and I had to dash off home straight after our game, as he had to be in Barnsley before 5:00, so after a quick wash and change I drove him through to Barnsley, had a quick tea and got some Stampin Up stuff ready to play with for Sue and Sarah. They arrived at 7:00 and we played nicely til 10:30! We made two cards each and they were really pleased with them. Neither of them had really stamped before, so they enjoyed having the opportunity to use both the roller and ordinary stamps.
Tuesday morning I had to phone Go Cart up and arrange for a replacement battery and charger to be sent to me. I am playingat Pike Hills tomorrow, so I really do need the battery to work well. They were very helpful and promised to courier these to me today, so i have to wait in for these arriving. Spent some time cutting the nesties scallop ovals and ovals for the Tuesday Class to finish off their tri shutter card and getting the supplies ready for their next project. The Class went very well and everyone's card looks absolutely stunning. We then stamped two baubles and started colouring them in, however we ran out of time so will finish this card next week. Went shopping to Morrisons and bought a cooked chicken for tea
then after tea I had to dash off to the Golf Club for a Ladies meeting. There really is no rest for the wicked is there! Came home and watched Flash Forward with Barry, then off to bed. Will do some housework today whilst I have to stay in and the weather doesn't look too promising anyhow, so I may as well stay in. May do a little crafting in between.
See ya

Ironing again!!

Well I have to do the ironing sometime don't I and I wont have any time to get it done now before Wednesday if I don't do it today. Tonight we are going to a Ladies night Dinner dance at Ardsley House. Tomorrow we are playing golf and staying overnight at Belton Woods (Grantham) then playing golf again on Monday. Barry will be out Monday evening nd I have two ladies coming to play at Stampin Up. Tuesday is Step and Aquarobics, then I have craft class don't I?
Thursday morning went to Meadowhall and met up with Carol D to deliver her SU goodies. We had a couple of coffees in Debenhams (and a bacon butty Chris!!) Then did a quick little shop then back home to get ready for craft class. Did the tri shutter card with the Thursday ladies.(Only two this week as Gill, Beth and Sue have a school appointmenrt for work experience ) Heather did it in Traditional colours and Chris did hersin Contempory - they both looked fabulous and they were well pleased with the results.
Friday I had to wait in for the new dishwasher, Joan C came up and we got our heads together to sort out the new fixture list for next year. We also planned a surprise event for next year. Took Stevie shopping, watched soaps, then went to bed.
Today am doing the ironing, with a little bit of pogo games on the computer to break the monotony.
See ya

Wednesday 14 October 2009

Where has the week gone!!

I can't believe that its Wednesday night already.
Sunday I had a really lazy day - did swim and gym first thing.then did minimal house-work, but did the washing - more ironing to do!! I ordered a new dishwasher on-line from Argos, the handle has broken on the current one and my worry is that I won't be able to open the door and get to my crockery one of these days so I have bitten the bullet and ordered a new one. It will be delivered on Friday between 10 and 2.
Monday was golf with the Monday Club. We played behind a society, so once again the play was very slow, so we came off after 11 holes and had a sandwich and cuppa at the golf club then went home. Cooked dinner for Barry and me - lamb chops that were tough as old boots so didn't enjoy that at all. Committee meeting at Golf Club at 7 o'clock. Didn't finish until gone 10, so was late home and completely shattered. Watched Emmerdale and Corrie then went to bed.
Tuesday did my very first "Step" Class - really enjoyed it and to my amazement was pleasantly surprised at my ability to do this. Only thing that let me down was my memory!! I couldn't remember the order of the routines. Technically I could carry them out, I just couldn't remember what bits went where!! Did Aquarobics after the Step Class - was quite easy peasy after doing Step! Had a quick shower and changed, then dashed off home for Tuesday lunchtime Craft Class. Today we did a Tri Shutter Christmas card - or at least we started it. The ladies have taken their bits home to do as homework and will bring back next week to embellish.
Cooked a Chicken and Mushroom Curry for tea - was a bit hot for my taste, but was absolutely starving so ate it anyhow! Quick change again then off to Thurnscoe to The Little Theatre to see Double Cut. Met up with Janet and Steph from DV, Heather was there also. Nicky was playing Carlos, a Spanish manservant this time - he looked quite the part! As per usual, we really enjoyed the play and will be going to their next production in the new year.
Today was "Cousins Day". Christine (Barry's sister), Josie (Barry's Cousin) and I went up to Leeds to meet up with Susan (another of Barry's cousins - from Middlesbro). Chris picked Josie up and drove through to ours. Then I drove all three of us to Leeds. We parked up and then walked up to M & S where we met up with Susan and spent a good hour in the restaurant over coffee, catching up with events since the last get-together. Spent a little time shopping then went to Wetherspoons for a leisurely lunch. Then walked down to the markets where we parted company with Josie and Susan who were catching the bus - Josie to her daughters and Susan to Middlesbro. Chris and I went on to Samuel Taylors, where I bought some ric-rac braid for my cards, then back to the car and home.
Had Curry and rice with Naan bread (again) for tea, then prepared for Craft Class. Did a Stampin Up Card using the Garden Whimsey set. Was quite happy with the result.

Have made a right boo boo with my last order from SU. I have only gone and ordered a stamp set in ruddy French haven't I!! I now have to go about getting this exchanged for an English Set. It's my own fault I should have double checked the order, but I was obviously in a "blonde" mode when I did the ordering. Must have been in a "blonde" mode when I checked the order - I didn't look closely at the wording on the stamp. Only checked this out tonight when i was going to show Gail the set and realised that they were in French! Will be more careful next time.
Well, I am off to bed now - might have a bucks fizz as a bedtime treat - decadent or what.
See ya all.

Saturday 10 October 2009

I hate ironing!

I have just finished the ironing and have now got backache something chronic! Thank God it's done. Barry now tells me that Sky Plus has failed to tape Casualty so I am well and truly miffed. Should have watched it live instead of finishing the ruddy ironing!
Yesterday morning I went over to Pats to deliver the cards that I should have sent with Barry last night! Went home and made a card to take to the SU Training workshop last night. Had lunch them went to Aquarobics. Got stuff together for workshop, the Stampin Up delivery came - had to open it straightaway! I now have quite a selection of stamp pads . punches and stamps. Barry brought fish n chips in for tea then I set off to my workshop. It was great to meet some of my SU colleagues and put names to faces. There were a couple of demos and a couple of make and takes on a halloween theme. I received a recognition award for my £700 sales at my first workshop. It was a necklace that I had to wear for the evening then hand back!!
Had a good time and thoroughly enjoyed it - looking forward to the next one.
As the event started late (some people had difficulty finding the place) it finished late too, Was totally tired out -even too tired to watch Corrie, so went to bed.
Up bright and early this morning for golf. Play was extremely slow, so we came off after 11 holes. I went to Morrisons for weekly grocery shopping then home for a late lunch ( It was gone 3:30 by then!) Packed groceries away, then made a couple of return phone calls and caught up with emails. Set to doing the ironing, watched Strictly to relieve the monotony, then collapsed on settee. completely cream crackered. Think I will have an early night,

Thursday 8 October 2009

Another year older

This is my last year of being fifty something! Tempis fugit and all that.
Its been a busy week again. Monday morning did 18 holes of golf at Monday Club, played with Jan, Joan and Kath, did my first Eclectic card and played quite well. Cooked Barry's tea, then Heather picked me and Cathy up and off we went to Oriental Palace for our Dearne Valley reunion Dinner. It was a lovely evening and we all arranged to get together early December at the Sandygate for the next one.
Tuesday morning did gym and aquarobics, then home for Craft Class. Tuesday evening was spent making my card orders - had 4 cards to do before today. Wednesday was my birthday - I always open my cards at one minute past midnight and this year was no exception. Christine came over and we had a coffee and a natter, I opened my pressie - a beautiful hand made necklace, opened my cards that had been delivered by post - I got 33 cards!! We went to Crofton to the Cock & Crown and had lunch, then went to Spring Green Nurseries to the Craft Kabin where we only spent a few pounds each - that makes a change. Back home we sat down and did a Stampin Up card each to add to my samples for workshops. Cooked tea then got things together for craft class. Gail was on her own last night so we spent the time doing a very special wedding card. We then rehashed her wish list of Stampin Up supplies, then after she went home I watched Emmerdale with Barry. Off to bed then - am getting tired a lot earlier these days - must be my age!
This morning got up bright and early for my early morning swim, the 45 minutes in the gym, then back home for a leisurely breakfast. I am going to watch a programme that Barry has taped for me and then I shall decide what to do with the rest of the day after I have read my emails.
Talk later!

Monday Club

Hi Ho it's Monday again. Had a good weekend. Went to Silkstone Golf Club Saturday Night for Wharncliffe Ladies Night. Picked up Pat and Cliff and stayed over at their house afterwards. Ladies gift was a beautiful cream coloured wrap/scarf that co-ordinated perfectly with the dress I wore on the night.
Yesterday morning Pat cooked us breakfast then we came home and I got changed to go to Manchester to see little sis - Anne-Marie. Jane drove Maggie and me and we arrived there about 12:30. AM was so happy to see us - we were all in tears! It was lovely to meet Denise and Bill (Dale's mum and step-dad)Stephen and Sian (their grandkids) and Jo the dog. We all went out for lunch together and had a lovely meal. AM took photos of us all together and by the time I got home she had posted them on facebook!
Made Barry's tea when I got home, but didn't have room for any myself - just had a quick sandwich later on. Sorted out the last of the Stampin Up stuff and phoned/emailed everyone to arrange delivery. Caught up on emails, watched Casualty, then went to bed.
Found out on Saturday that Barry is going to join me for our Sunday Driver at Belton woods in a fortnight - I was going to have to have a single room as he couldn't go, so it was a lovely surprise. Its a golfing overnighter, golf on the Sunday, evening meal then bed and breakfast and another round of golf before returning on the Monday.
Today it's Monday Club Golf this morning, and tonight its our Dearne Valley colleagues get-together at The Oriental Palace (Chinese) at Sprotbro'. Heather is picking me up and we are collecting Cathy Rodgers on the way. It will be good to see everyone again.
Better go and get dressed up warmly - it looks like a cold morning outside - no sun today! Feel cold at the thought of it!
See ya.

Blog Candy time

Before i go to the market I thought that I'd better enter my Simon Says Stamp - Magnolia Blog Candy draw and one of these days I have just GOT to win haven't I! Here's the link so that you can have a go toohere

What a windy morning.

Thursday morning paid a quick visit to the catalogue shop to try on two evening dresses that I had seen there when I went with Ash on Wednesday. Bought them both - a fiver each!! They were £80 in the catalogue!! What a bargain - I shall wear one of them Saturday night for Ladies night at Silkstone. It was Jackies turn to come to me on Thursday and whilst the weather is kind we like to visit different places. We paid a visit to Wentworth Castle gardens. It was a beautiful day, extremely warm and the gardens were fabulous, especially the dahlias. We saw the conservatory which has received some sort of funding in order to renovate it - looks as though they are gonna have to look sharp and get the work done or there won't be anything left to restore - its in a real sorry state. Can imagine it looking fantastic when it is restored to it's former glory though. We had a leisurely stroll around the gardens, then had a rather late lunch then back home.
Had a great surprise at 4:00 o'clock - the Stampin Up stuff arrived! Spent time sorting everyones orders out, but had to break off to make Barrys tea, then sorted most of the rest. Craft class went well, we made an explosion card with a cute smirk on the front. When everyone had gone home I got all the things together for Friday's coffee morning at the golf club.
Friday morning, at the golf club bright and early (9:30 ready for a 10:30 start). The coffee morning went really well, don't know how much money we raised, but I took £50 on my Card Make and Take stall in the hour and a half - we finished at 12:00 midday. It was the first time that the Ladies have done this, but I think it must have been a real success. Don't know how much we raised in total, I'll let you know when I find out. Chris (G) came with her friend Wendy, and when we had finished we went back to ours for lunch. We then went to Hoyland and paid a visit to the catalogue shop (again). I tried another evening dress on but didn't buy it, and Chris bought a jumper. Took Stevie shopping earlier than usual, cos we had to get back early as we were all going to Jade Palace for a meal to Celebrate Maggie and Ger's Wedding Anniversary.
Ten of us went - Maggie n Ger, me n Barry, Steve,Emma n Tony and Stephen, Sarah and Ethan went. Stephen and Sarah announed that they are getting married on 7th November - at Gretna Green! They will be having a family celebration closer to home on the 14th.
We came home, I watched Corrie then went to bed - too tired to even watch the second episode!!
This morning it's a blustery day and I am still having pain walking - I have a poorly foot and its quite sore, so I think I will give golf a miss and get the ironing done instead. (At least I can keep having a rest at home - can't do that on the golf course!)
Tonight we are off to a ladies night and I shall be wearing my new frock! Looking forward to it. If I get time I will post links to Simons Saturday Surprise Magnolia Blog candy on Bev's blog. Talk to u later.

Update

Grr - have just spent ages doing the update for this blog and I have caught a key combination that has wiped the ruddy lot. Boy am I mad! So a very shortened version now.
Monday early morning swim, 11 holes of golf, Morrisons for Maggie a thankyou bunch of flowers, tea, prep for Tuesday Class, watch soaps then bed.
Tuesday, sorting office at Wombwell to collect card with insufficient postage on it. Was 8p short so they charge £1 handling charge on top. I paid £1.08 and it turned out to be for our Adam's Kate - not me!!
Market next to visit Keith's craft stall, made a few purchases and picked up some envelopes for Heather. Aquarobics next - then home for craft class. quick lunch then off to Golf Club to drop off a birthday card for Ann, then a quick trip to Morrisons. Tea, then prep for Wednesday's class and a bit of work for the Golf Club's coffee morning on Friday morning. Watched a bit of telly, then an early night.
Today, monthly walk with Ashley. Before we set off on our walk we paid a visit to the Catalogue shop to see if they had an evening dress for a posh do that she is going to. Nothing suitable today, but we will keep looking. We did the Silkstone walk today and it was really good. Took us about 3 hours plus but the weather was brilliant and we really worked up an appetite for our late lunch. Cooked Barry's tea and posted thes items on blog - now I must go as it is nearly time for tonights craft class I had better sign off. Don't forget the blog hop - I won't

Wotaweekend!!

Hi all - well I can at last sit back and relax a little now.
Thursday saw Jules (My Stampin Up mum) come down to help me preparen for my Open House. We were very busy and only had a very short lunch break and make quite a few things to promote sales on Saturday. We get on very well and don'tm see any problems there. Craft Class Thursday night was quite peaceful, we all made a man's card (using the origami shirt blocks) and had a good old natter at coffee break. Was very tired by the time everyone had gone home, so didn't do any more prep and just went to bed because of the early start Friday morning (Uncle Fred's funeral)
Friday morning, up bright and early - well early. Showered, dressed and quick cuppa (can't face breakfast first thing. Kathleen and Fitz arrived at ours about 7:50 and we set off for Bridlington with Barry driving. Funeral was at Bridlington Priory, which is a beautiful church, followed by cremation at a place called Octon (Think thats how it's spelled) Everyone then went ionto the tearooms and we all had hot drinks and biscuits, cos we were all quite cold by then. Chatted to all the relatives - Graham and Marilyn from Doncaster were there, it was Barry's birthday-bash last year when we last saw them. Barry spoke to one of Lisa's relatives who is a lady mason! (Lisa is Uncle Fred's daughter). Addresses and email addresses and phone numbers were exchanged, then we decided we had better have a proper meal before we all collapsed frpom starvation. Graham, Marilyn, Kathleen, Fitz, Barry and I went back into Bridlington and had a good old traditional fish and chip lunch at "Audreys" (supposedly the finest fish and chips in Brid!) and excellent they were.
After eating our fill, Graham and Marilyn decided to stay and spend some time in Brid and Barry, me, Kathleen and Fitz headed for home.
I drove the last half of the journey home cos Barry was tired.
Took Stevie to supermarket, did shopping for myself, then back home and made an excellent sandwich of french stick, Yorkshire ham and piccalli for Barry and me.
Made some last minute preparations for Saturday morning, and went to bed at 10:30 utterly exhausted!
Early start on Saturday morning ready for my Stampin UP Open House. Gerald dropped Maggie off at ours on the way to Golf (Barry and he were playing golf whilst I had my Open House). She was a godsend as very quickly it got very busy. In all 19 people came and there were times when it was extremely busy, but the last hour was a more sedate pace and very enjoyable. Maggie went home at 3:30 and the last guest went home at 4!! That didn't leave much time for a quick shower and change into the glad rags readyfor our Grand Gala Charity Dinner at the Royal Armouries. We drove to Silkstone to Chris and Stuarts (we were staying overnight here). The minibus picked us up about 5:40 and took eight of us to Leeds for the evenings proceedings. Liz and Alan and Roger and Sue went with us. It was a bit of a shambles to start with as when we got there they had run out of wine glasses for the reception, so we had to wait about 15 minutes for our drinks.
Then we were shepherded into the hall for the main event. Had our meal - which was excellent, then they announced who the winning Charities were. They had received 48 applications for the 5 awards of £30,000 each - these were whittle out and announced.
It was wonderful to find out that the Charity that Stuart had put the case forward for (A lift for Greenacres School for children with special needs)was successfull. It was the fourth award that was announced and it was great to be there to see his reaction. No-one in our group knew about the award, only the big-wigs higher up the chain knew, and they had been sworn to secrecy for the past 4 weeks.
Stuart and Chris's grandson Jack attends this school and is totally dependent on other people to look after all his needs. This money will make a huge different to all the children who attend the school, and it was wonderful to be there and share this news with them.
Well on this high note, we set off home and had an hour or so reflecting on things when we got back to Stuart & Chris's then all went to bed (about 2 in the morning!)
Got up this morning about 9ish, had a lovely breakfast with Stuart and Chris, then back home.
Couldn't wait to put together my oder for Stampin Up (as I obviously hadn't had time on Saturday to do anything much, other than put the orders safely away.) It took a while to input everyones orders onto the computer, butI was extremely please to find that I had sold £700 worth of products (including my own order of course. What a result! Thanks to everyone who supported me by coming along and making the event a success. Think that I deserve a rest now! However, I have put the Sunday roast in the oven, so I had better go and check that it's not burnt!!
Am going to have a very quiet evening, watch a little telly after dinner, the to bed.
Golf tomorrow morning!!
See ya.

Soon be Saturday- Stampin Up Open House!!

Morning all. Am heavily into preparations for my Open House on Saturday and getting quite excited,
I haven't golfed this week as I have been busy doing other things.
Monday - I didn't go golfing as I intended making a start on the ironing. Ha Ha Ha!
Spoke to Glynis on the phone to arrange for her to collect Louise's birthday card and found out that Glynis's birthday is Tuesday 22nd. Had to make her a card hadn't I? Couldn't not make my matchplay doubles partner a birthday card I - so the ironing took at rain check. Lunchtime saw me off to Country Baskets at Leeds, where I bought two rolls of cellophane - one clear and one in my favourite colour - PINK!! No surprises there then! I bought a few bits for door gifts for Saturday and a few card blanks and a bit of ribbon and some pearls and some gems - oh my - I won't tell you how much I spent cos Barry might read this! Went home and made a chicken casserole for tea - aren't I getting very domesticated! Took a phone call from Mary (Lady Captain) there is a House and Social Meeting at 6 o'clock this evening and can I make it? Couldn't say no could I? Glynis called to collect her card order and I gave her my card for Louise and my card for herself. She loved the Waterlily card that she had ordered for Louise, and I must confess I was really pleased with the finished item too. Glynis told me that friend Joan's daughter had had a baby girl whilst I was away, but didn't know any more details, so I sent Joan a quick congratulations email asking for details so that I can make her a card. _Fed Barry then went to Golf Club for said meeting - quite productive (not always). Back home, nuked the casserole and a jacket potato for me, then more preparation for Saturday, then off to bed.
Tuesday, quick last minute prep for Tuesday Class - Christmas Cards today! In the "coffee break" we had a diversion and had a quick trip to the market for supplies from our favourite craft stall holder Keith. Bought some beautiful Kanban card and paper and a set of clear stamps - can you believe that! Course you can. Was astonished to see Liz go to the card stall and BUY a birth congratulations card. When I commented on this, one of the other stall holders asked what was wrong with buying a card, I told him that Liz comes to my card-making class - to which he replied "Oh - is she not very good then!" Liz's excuse was that she has to post the card today (Wednesday) and would not have time to make one!!
Talking of congratulations cards, I received an email from Joan telling me that she had taken delivery of a beautiful GRANDSON!! I'll get that Gynis at playtime - giving me duff gen! Glad that I hadn't started making a pink card!!.
Craft Class over I went back to sending reminders to everyone about Saturday, then wrapped up a few little gifts for saturday - they look very nice - I hope people aren't disappointed! There again they aren't costing them anything are they so they should be OK. Spoke to Cathy R (an ex DV colleague to let her know about the next get together - an evening meal at The Oriental Palace (Chinese) at Sprotbrough. That reminds me, I really must get back into my swim and gym routine from Sunday - put two pounds on whilst on jollies - it was the drink - honestly - I had one alcoholic drink each evening and an odd shandy here and there - oh and there was the Bucks Fizz on the plane out!! They soon add up don't they.
Tea over saw me back in the craft room, checking out the SU web site to make sure that I haven't forgotten anything for Saturday, Sent a quick email to Jules (my SU line manager) just to remind her of the bits and bobs that she will be bringing down on Thursday when I meet her for the first time. She is coming to give me some training, so I am quite looking forward to this. I made her a thank you card to give her at the end of the session, it was good to use the SU stuff for this, but I am aware how few items I have in the SU range, OO er I can see my wish list getting longer!! Took a phone call frm Michelle (golf Michelle not hairdresser Michelle) and had a good long natter - hope to see her on Saturday. Took another phone call asking if Barry and I want to attend a Wharncliffe Lodge Ladies Night on Saturday October 3rd . Didn't take too much thinking about that did it! Silly question really! On Saturday evening, after the Open House if finished, I will be donning the old glad rags and Barry and I plus a minibusload of friens will be going to The Arnouries for a Grand Charity Dinner and Dance. We wnt a couple of years ago and it was great so am looking forwrd to this, it will be a nice relaxing evening after a hectic (I hope) day, Made another sample for make and take, then decided it was time for bed!
Today if I get really desperate I may do a little ironing(maybe Barry's shirts?).
I have to catch up on my emails - there has been a problem with sky email so I will check them as I sign off. I need to go to the supermarket for fresh bread and salad stuff some time today, and I am cooking a meat pie for tea (very nutricious but not too slimming!!)
If I don't get chance to speak to you all personally - don't forget to drop in on Saturday for my Open House - you know the details!!

Sunday 20 September 2009

Sunday Sunday - again!!

Well it's nice to be back home, but we have had a fabulous week.
To further update you, Thursday we played at El Valle again and this time I won Barry with 26 points - absolutely scortching heat, but no free water here!! Ate at their 19th hole - absolute luxury. Back at the hotel Barry didn't join me for a swim, but I spent an hour in the gym beforehand. Went out for dinner late and had an Italian at La Trattoria - we shared a "Menu" I had the salad starter, Barry had a main course - Spag Bol and we both had a sweet - there was plenty to eat!
Friday was our third and final day at Haciende Requielme - a nice pleasantly sunny day, but not too oppressive, still got free water. Won Barry again this time with 33points, my best score to date this week. To celebrate, Barry bought me a Polaris World Golf Resort polo shirt! Had different Tapas at the 19th hole, it was delicious, then back to the Hotel for a quick swim and gym session before packing. When I got to the swimming pool there were millions of kids in there, all jumping in and splashing one another, so went to the gym first and did an hours workout, then back at the pool as most of the kids had gone by then. Barry and I packed our cases and the golf bags - worried that the big suitcase may be overweight, so juggled stuff around. As it was, the golf bags were Ok as was the big suitcase, we needn't have worried. Ate out at "Bamboo" Friday night and shared two dishes- a Combo of starters and a plate of ribs and wedges - scrumptious. We have ate at this place three times this week. Thursday night we couldn't get in cos there was a private party for the Davis Cup Players and they hadn't given us a pass, so they wouldn't let us in! The cheek.
Anyhow, Saturday morning was a beautiful morning again, with the Sun high in the sky.
I got up at the usual time and after the ritual shower and early morning cuppa, played Mahjong sat in the sun on the balcony until Barry got up. We finished the packing and then went down for a late breakfast before checking out at 11 o'clock.
As our flight was not due until 19:50 we decided to stop off at a few places along the coast on the way back to the airport. We had pizza and drinks at a place on the seafront at a place that I cannot for the life of me remember the name.
Similarly we had a cappucino and coffee at another beach front place late in the afternoon, that I simnilarly can't remember the name of either.
Off to the airpost we went, Barry dropped the hire car off at the Rentacar place then we queued up everywhere as one does at airports, but the flight was on time and we had no problems. Our taxi was waiting for us at Manchester and we arrived home a little past midnight, tired but contented.
Whilst we have been away Barry's uncle has passed away (Tuesday I believe) and his funeral is in Bridlington next Friday. It seems that the only time we see distant relatives these days is at funerals and it is so sad.
On a brighter note, back home today I have unpacked all the cases, done three loads of washing, done the shopping, and cooked a Sunday dinner. Barry and I went over to see Shirley this evening and spent about an hour with her, then back home to catch up on reading my emails and updating this blog.
So there you have it - up to date again.
Think I might go to Country baskets tomorrow, I need a roll of cellophane to wrap up bottles for the bottle stall at our Golf Club's coffee morning in two weeks time.
I might phone Pat up to see if she fancies going.
Tara for now.

Bevs Whiff of joy blog candy

Here's a bit of candy on Bev's blog

Will do a proper update on my bog later today - have to hang out the washing and put another load in! At least its a sunny day and should dry well!!

Talk later!

Wednesday 16 September 2009

Wednesday already!!

Well we have had some brilliant weather on Monday and Tuesday - it has been extremely hot and the golf course we have played on for these two days is extremely hospitable and gives you free water - very civilised. On Monday Barry and I were scheduled to play with two English men, Tony and Alan. They were very sociable, and Alan came in very handy as he gave me the distances for all my shots with his GPS. I won Barry again with 27 points this time. I had to abandon the hole on the last green as it started to pour down with rain and we had to hurry back to the little wooden hut (19th hole). For a posh golf course the refreshment area is a bit poor, but Barry and I had tapas and enjoyed them.
Back at the hotel Barry and I had a swim and a sauna then changed and ate in the hotel restaurant again.
At the hotel, you drive up to the entrance and the staff take your car keys and park your car for you. When they brought ours back on Tuesday morning there was a big scrape down the drivers side passenger door. Its a good job that Barry took out superduper insurance!
We played the same golf course on Tuesday, and once again it was exceptionally warm. Free water again at the start and on the 9th hole. I won Barry again with 28 points! Poor Barry! When we get back to the hotel, the bloke on the door (I think its the concierge)always asks Barry who has won! I might have to let him win next time. Once again, as soon as we had finished playing our round, we were sat having a drink and a bite to eat when the heavens opened and we had a torrential downpour.
Back at La Torre, there is heightened security as Friday draws near. The Davis Cup is being played here for three days and everyone who is either a resident or a visitor has to have a pass for their car or they will not be allowed back in tothe resort over these three days. This is the reason that we are unable to play golf here at La Torre. It is very busy with workmen everywhere building/assembling the seating and the Guardia Civil are everywhere.
Today we do not have any golf booked, so we had a late breakfast and went to Torrevieja. It was another glorious day, so I donned shorts and thin shirt, sunspecs and water! Had a good treck round the resort and bought a Prada handbag and two lovely scarves. We had a trip on the little train, but by the time we got bak to the terminus, it was threatening rain. We hurried along the 10 minute walk to the car and only got slightly damp when it began to rain. The journey back to La Torre was horrendous. The torrential rain turned to hailstones and visibility was about 2 metres. Several of the roads (including the motorway) were flooded and drivers had just stopped on the hard shoulder with their hazards on! We had to find an alternate route back as the normal route was flooded so badly we had no chance of getting through. Boy was I pleased to get back safely.
Barry joined me for a swim and a sauna, then we got changed and went out to eat. What a routine!!
Tomorrow we are golfing at El Valle again so I had better get off to bed and get some beauty sleep. Night night!!

Friday 11 September 2009

One more sleep!

Yesterday was my monthly(ish) exchange lunch visit to Jackie's. We had a drive up to the Abbey and had a short walk around, taking in the sights of the Abbey and not forgetting the two golf courses that are on either side of the Abbey! Whilst we did this Tom cooked lunch - and an excellent lunch it was - Salmon, followed by a strawberry and rasberry tart wuth fresh cream- yum yum it was delicious.
When I got back home i received an email reply to my query about where my July prize-draw was. They advised me to contact Parcelforce and gave me a tracking number to enquire with, Well it took me 30 minutes to get thro the automated phone maze! I was ready for tearing my hair out. On the third attempt I actually managed to speak to a human being, She couldn't explain why the driver had been unable to locate the address, apologised, printed a map off to attach to my parcel and wrote my phone number on the parcel and said it would be with me today. So I have to stay in until its delivered today!! As I am doing the packing for the holiday today its not too big an issue, but I was furious. We have lived at this address for 15 years!
I refuse to be stressed on the eve of my holiday! I will let you know whether the parcel was worth waiting for.
Craft Class was a little noisy last night, but we all had fun and everyone enjoyed the class.
We are taking the notebook on holiday, so if I am not too exhausted, I might post a couple of updates whilst we are away, It will be nice to keep in touch with people and then I won't have a mountain of emails on my return.
Right then, I will do the last of the ironing and start sorting out the clothes that I want to take, then put half of them back in the wardrobe - we are only taking one suitcase!!
Bye for now.

Update

Tuesday night's Texas Scramble saw Barry, me and the Gutteridge brothers come third, but since I have slept in between, I cannot remember the score. We each won a bottle of wine, and as I don't drink that much, I gave mine to Barry.
Wednesday morning, set the last load of washing before the holiday off,PLJ came and collected his card orders, then Chris (sis-in-law) came over and after coffee, we went down to Elsecar Heritage. You can guess the inevitable! Yes I bought a few goodies:- a Magnolia stamp, Banana frog set of stamps, two sets of Papermania stamp duos, Creative Cardmaking magazine, a paper toile tool, a new set of waterbrushes (cos mine fell down the back of the sideboard in the dining room some time ago and despite Chris and my best efforts, we have been unable to retrieve them, as the sideboard is far too heavy to move, and I haven't got the time to empty out all my crockery!!)Papermania Home for Christmas 12x12 paper (which Chris n I shared)and a pack of silver buttons. Well I think that's everything.
When we got back home, I put jacket potatoes and Chicken casserole in oven for lunch, then we spent some time looking through Stampin Up Catalogue and started our "Wish list" ready for the open house event on Saturday 26th September. Make a note in your diary folks - 10:00 a.m. til 2:30. It will be a super day!! Don't miss it!!
Ate lunch, had seconds, then went back to wish list, drooled over several items, then had a coffee and shared a "healthy eating" individual mandarin cheesecake - weren't we good. Chris is joining weightwatchers tonight - she's a stone and a half lighter than me!! I will be going back to my regular gym and swim routine after my jollies, now that the golfing season is over. We then hung out the washing (cos I had forgotten to do this in all the excitement of shopping and wishlisting!)
Made Barry's tea - casserole and mashed potatoes, I had a quick sandwich cos I was still a little stuffed from lunch!
Wednesday Craft Class - we did the "one martini, two martini, three martini -floor" card (courtesy of Craftwork cards)and despite several moans and groans, all the cards were really good and I would be happy to receive any of them.
Nicky called to collect his card orders and I introduced him to the ladies! He was looking very French in his beret and shorts! All he needed was a string of onions and a bicycle!
Prepped Thursday Class' card (same card as Wednesday class) and now I am off to bed cos I am very tired.

Last Tuesday Evening Golf

Well the end of the golfing season is almost here and we are playing our last Tuesday evening golf tonight - its a Texas Scramble. This heralds the start of dark nights and winter woolly weather - good job we are off to Spain this weekend or I could get quite depressed. Then again I have the start of my Stampin Up career to think about - that is quite exciting, and I will update you as it progresses.
Yesterday Joan H and I played in the AM AM at Phoenix Golf Club with Andy Law and Carol D. They came third with 64 and won £40 of M & S vouchers each and Joan and I came 12th with 71. 71 is par for the course, so Joan and I were well pleased with our score, even if it was not a winning one. The game was a good one, the company was excellent, as was the course, and the weather was glorious - we had a great time. The meal after was excellent - all in all a great day, so much so that by the time I got home I was totally exhausted. I just read my emails, sent a few, did a bit of Stampin Up stuff, then went to bed!
Only Liz at Craft class today - others are on holiday so we had a very special one to one and made a beautiful card each and put the world to rights at the same time.
Have to go and get ready for golf now - fingers crossed that the weather holds up!

Bye for now!

Sunday Evening

I've managed to complete the card orders and here are scanned pictures of them. The colours don't come out as true as they should, but you get the idea.
Enjoy!

Sunday morning

Well aren't I the early bird! No I am not out worm catching, just need to get those card orders made, so I thought I would post an entry on my blog early doors, then I don't bear the wrath of Chris B (who nags me on a regular basis if I don't post daily updates!)
You may have noticed a subtle change in the appearance of my blog - brownie points if you notice the changes and comment on this posting - I might even give the first reader who correctly spots the two changes a small gift!
If I get the cards made, as well as the Sunday dinner, I may update this with a few more pictures of the cards I've made. (I did the washing yesterday - the ironing can wait for a rainy day!)

Off we jolly well go!

Saturday 5 September 2009

Another Saturday Night

Yesterday Christine came over and we played with the Stampin Up stuff that's arrived. Chris has made a lovely sample card and I have made a gift tag that will be a super make and take for my Stampin Up Open House on th 26th/27th September (after we get back from our jollies - golfing in Spain- just for a change!!)
Had a lengthy conversation with Julie, my Stampin Up mentor. She will come down from Leeds the week I come back from jollies and help me with samples etc. She sounds great! Took a phone call from a customer wanting to order stamps!! Invited her to come to Open house and took details and will post invitation out later on.
Took Stevie shopping and fetched him back, then dashed out with Barry to pick Philip and Shirley up. we went to the Bluebell for a meal, then back to theirs for a quick cuppa, then home to bed.
This morning Barry, Gerald and I went to the Waterfront Golf Course and did 9 holes. I won and no-one paid up!!
Went home, Barry went to Chippy and we enjoyed our lunch.
Played silly game on laptop for rest of afternoon, then went to Morrisons for my Shopping. Had tea, then relaxed for a couple of hours and watched the X Factor with Barry.
Crafted for a short while and assembled Rubber Stamps from Stampin Up. Cut my thumb cleaning sticky stuff from scissors. Wouldn't stop bleeding. Hope that it doesn't drop off. I am playing at Phoenix on Monday with Joan H in their AM-AM with Andy Law and her friend.
Must go now and do another of my card orders or at this rate I will be disapppointing my Card customerrs, and that would never do!
Tally Ho.

Thursday 3 September 2009

Another wet one!!

Well....today was supposed to be a friendly game of golf at Bawtry, but following discussions with the Golf Club and their Vice Captain, we decided that the weather was not condusive for good golf and have postponed it to another future date (to be decided).
Have made several phone calls to all our Sandhill ladies to advise them that the golf is off. After talking to Ev, she called in and had a quick coffee and a natter with me, after dropping off some handmade cards for the Crafts table for our Coffee Morning event in October.
I am taking the opportunity of a free day to update my blog, finish the ironing - (the ironing basket never seems to actually empty!)and do some of my card orders that I will have to complete before I go on Holiday a week on Saturday.
I got an email from a colleague the other day, asking me "How do you knowyou are on holiday - what makes it any different to the rest of the time??" The facetious beggar!! I am going away from home Pete - that's what makes it different!! I am going to Murcia (Spain) golfing - just for a change - maybe we'll get some decent weather. Here's hoping.
Anyhow what have I done with the rest of the week?? It all seems a blur, but I will try to remember.
Sunday was a lazy day, minimum housework, maximum crafting, usual Sunday dinner cooked - which I might add was absolutely fanbloomintastic - brisket, mash, cabbage, carrots and yorkshire pudding. Could barely move after stuffing my face with that little lot - and I made my own yorkshires (Sorry Aunt Bessie!!)
Was too stuffed to even eat a bit more of my delicious home baked bilberry pie - Mary very kindly picked the bilberries for me, cos I couldn't go bilberry picking with her (probably cos I was golfing!) Thanks Mary - if theres any left you can have a piece!!
Monday was bank holiday, and Barry and I went up to the Golf Club - for a change!- Barry played with the Monday Club fellas and I played with the Monday Club Ladies.
Played quite well and enjoyed the game. Went home and had Sunday Dinner leftovers for tea, but had bilberry pie and custard for afters (didn't eat too much dinner so that I had room for a pudding. Spent a little time in the craft room, then watched TV for a real change!! Then bed.
Tuesday- the day that I had been waiting for! Stampin Up let their demonstrators have a sneak peek at the new Catalogue that is coming out on the 1st of October and a list of soon to be retired stamp sets - which I duly viewed and then sent links to the Customer page of the web site to my crafty friends.
Watch this space for details of my workshop/Open day at the end of September.
Spent quite a bit of time on the website looking at various items and then got ready for Tuesday evening Golf - it was a Rabbnits competition that we ladies were invited to join in on. Half an hour before I was due to set off, the heavens opened, torrential rain, thunder and lightning the lot! Decided not to go (I am a fair weather golfer you know). Anyhow at 4:30 the sun came out, the clouds departed and it looked really nice, so I rushed and got ready and went down to the Club to play.
Several ladies played, some better than others, we did get wet a few times, but plodded on regardless. Jean C won - congratulations! Colette won a tin of Roses chocolates in the raffle, so we made her open them and pass them round -yum yum!
Wednesday was shopping day. (Usually Wednesday is the day when Chris (sis-in-law) and I get together for a little crafting). Went to Barnsley, cos I haven't been for a while. Went on the market and got a fabulous bargain in ribbon. Went in Marks & Spencers and bought two pairs of trousers for golf and a pair of footgloves shoes in the sale - bargains again! Then did the rounds of Poundland and the 99p shop.
Came home and my Starter kit had arrived from Stampin Up, so I quickly unpacked it before I cooked tea for Barry n me. Had a quick look at the goodies - its quite exciting - can'y wait to have a play with it all! Then had to get ready for my Wednesday Class. Maggie (sis) rang me to ask for a special wedding card that she needs for Thursday evening so I started that. Used a Clip Crop Crafts "Vintage Milly" download and made this card

I am really pleased with it.
That brings me bang up to date with today.
I have just taken another phone call from Germany, from Chris at "Stampin' Up", to check that I have received my order. I am well impressed with the back up that I am getting from them. Keeping fingers crossed that all goes well. We'll see.
Well I am going to make some lunch and do a teeny weeny bit of ironing, then have another look at the Stampin Up goodies.
Bye for now!!
