Fry Box Santa

I really do enjoy making gift boxes ad this one is no exception!
My friend and down-line Carol brought the die for me to cut the fry box out the other week.
We made the box base together using the Fry Box Bigz L die and
Cherry Cobbler, Black and Gold card stock and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.
Later last weekend, after doing the rounds of fellow Julies' Jems team blogs,
I happened across this punch art Santa's head that
Amanda from The Craft Spa had made
then I knew I had to make one for myself.
I didn't have the moustache die that Amanda used,  so I improvised using
the bird's wings from the bird Builder punch.

I just love it!
What do you reckon Amanda??

Christmas Door Wreath

I have just done a new version of an old card, bringing it up to date using new stamps and punches.

The door is stamped with Crumb Cake ink on Crumb Cake card stock using the Hardwood stamp
and matted onto a Very Vanilla base card.
The wreath is made using the leaves from the Bird Builder punch and Old Olive C/S,
and the flowers are cut with the shamrock from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and Real Red C/S.
The snow is just torn card, with frosted accents using Dazzling Details.
The flower centres are done with Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details.
I'm quite happy with this updated version of an old favourite -
and that's another Christmas card completed!!

Frugal Friday #2 Challenge

I am really enjoying these Frugal Friday Challenges, and if you would like to know more,
or even join in, you will find Lizy's challenge HERE.

Basically, you take a pile of scraps from your desk and make something with them.
Here's what I made today with some of yesterdays scraps.

The colour combo was Real Red and White with a hint of Silver Glimmer.
Here's the pile of scraps that I used.

The piece of Fresh Prints DSP that was a left over, wasn't big enough to use as the central mat,
on this card, so I pieced it together with a scrap of White which I embossed with
the Textured Impressions Delicate Designs embossing folder
(it looks like a patchwork quilt on the back of this layer!).
I punched an Extra Large Oval out of this piece of DSP before I layered it onto a piece of Whisper White card stock from my scrap box (it had a dirty mark in the middle) which I had gutted and used the
reverse side of the middle piece for the Oval Designer frame which was embossed and then fussy cut out.
The extra large oval piece of DSP was then glued into the oval frame.
I shaped the punched Petite Petal flowers and punched and shaped 1/4" circles for the flower centres,
and cut leaves out (with the Bird Builder Punch) from the scraps of Silver Glimmer Paper.
The sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes was stamped then punched with the Word Window punch.
This was then stuck onto a piece of Real Red (which was punched from the piece of
card stock used for the first layer) using the Modern Label punch.
This was a really Frugal Friday card!!
I did use a completely new white base card - otherwise the other bits were all left overs.

WWWU#16

It's that time of week again - Wade's weekly Warm Up
and this week the colour combo is
Raspberry Ripple, Pool Party and Strawberry Slush.
Here's my card.

I punched one triangle with Raspberry Ripple, two triangles with Pool Party,
the three triangles with Strawberry Slush card stock (using the Triangle punch - if you didn't guess!)
and glued them onto a 10 cm square base card in a pyramid shape.
I then stamped the Petite Petals flowers in Strawberry Slush and Pool Party ,
and cut with the matching punch, then glued them in the white triangular spaces.
A 1/4" punched white circle was then shaped and glued in the flower centres.
Leaves were added, cut with the Bird Builder punch.
I've used the (retired) Just Because sentiment as I am trying to do cards
that will suit many occasions and I think this one fits the bill perfectly.
Mmmm - I like this one - thanks for the colour combo Julie!!

Just Because.........

Sometimes it's nice to send a card to a friend just because...... for any number of reasons.
So I do like to have a few of these cards that will fit the bill if I don't have a specific occasion card.
This little card was made from scraps left on my desk before I tidied up today,
and this design just asked to be made up!

It's a  10 cm square base card with a colour combo is Strawberry Slush, Silver and White.
Made quite simply from 4 scraps of Strawberry Slush DSP from the In Colour 2013-2015 Collection
a stamped and punched Petite Petal flower,
and a couple of reject silver leaves punched with the Bird Builder punch.
(rejected as the stems weren't long enough for the project - they are fine for this one!!)
The sentiment is a retired stamp that I won't part with as its so useful.
All products are Stampin' Up!

I have just realised I should have taken a photo of the scraps first - as it's too late for that
here is a piccie of what was left after!!

All Occasion Card

My greeting card tin is getting a little short of all occasions cards i.e. cards where I can simply
add a greeting suitable for the occasion (as opposed to general birthday cards)
To out it right I have made a few of these today.
Chris (sis-in-law) has been over today and she made 5 cards whilst I only managed 4!
I'll show you two of them.

This first one is cased from my Stampin Up sister and fellow Julies' Jems team member, Julie Wade.
You will have seen that she does a weekly colour combo challenge for us every week -
Wades Weekly Warm Up or WWWU as we call it.
This week she had challenged us to use the Convention goodies that we received in November
(these were basically gold items) along with black.
She shared the card that I have cased (with her permission of course)
above, with a slight alteration to the flower centres

And here is another one where I have swapped the colours around somewhat
i.e. black for white and white for black.
Don't know which one I like the best.
I have left them without a sentiment, and will just add one as and when I send the card.
I Used Basic Black, Whisper White and Brushed Gold card stock.
Versamark and Gold Embossing Powder for heat embossing the flowers
which were stamped with Flower Shop stamp set and cut with Pansy Punch
and Petite Petals with matching punch.
The Lattice Bigz die was used with the Brushed gold card.
The flower centres were punched with the Itty Bitty Circle punch and a 1/4" circle punch
in Brushed Gold card and shaped.

The fence is Crumb Cake cardstock with Early Espresso Ink
using the Hardwood stamp.
The large flowers are stamped in Pistachio Pudding using the Betsy's Blooms stamp set

and Petite Petals cut with the matching Punch
and the tiny flowers cut with the Itty Bitty Flower punch
flower centres embellished with tiny Basic Rhinestones.

I am highly delighted with this CAS Easter card.

WWWU#8 Best Friend

Despite being late blogging today, I am relatively early in making  my card
for the Wade's Weekly Warm Up colour combo challenge.
I am normally on the last push with this, so I thought that I would
get in early doors this week.

The colours this week are
Island Indigo, Pool Party, Summer Starfruit and Sahara Sand.
Wasn't sure  how I was going to put these together, but I do believe
that they have worked perfectly on this design.
I used a dauber to colour the doily with Island Indigo ink.
I punched a 2.3/8" scallop circle for the centrepiece and stamped
the sentiment from "Label Love" Stampset.
I stamped and punched 3 Petite Petals flowers and punched one Pansy from
Summer Starfruit card stock.
I then punched Itty Bitty flowers in matching card stock for the 3 flower middles.
The leaves were punched using the Bird Builder Punch.
Small Basic Pearls were used for the flower centres.
Thanks for this colour combo Julie - love it!!

In case you are interested - Glynis and I played golf today in the final of
the Crowther Doubles Matchplay at Sandhill -
AND WON!! Ta Da!!
It was a lovely day, a great game, and fabulous company.

Here's the first one

The Sale-a-bration Banner Blast stamp set and matching punch for the bunting.
The SAB Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack Pool Party Twine.
The Bird Builder punch was used for the leaves.

Bird Builder Punch Christmas wreath

I do like to utilise my stamps and punches and so love to use an item for something
other than it's original purpose.
I received a swap a couple of years ago of a wreath made out of the wing
of the Bird Builder punch, so I thought I would give it a try with up to date papers and colours.

The colour combo is Cherry Cobbler, Wild Wassabi and White.
the stamp in the centre is from Snowflake Soiree
The sentiment is from greetings of the Season.
The papers are from the Seasons of Style DSP Paper Stack in the Autumn Winter Catalogue.
Once again I have used the fabulous Frosted Finishes Embellishments
for the centre of the snowflake.
