Frugal Friday #2 Challenge

I am really enjoying these Frugal Friday Challenges, and if you would like to know more,
or even join in, you will find Lizy's challenge HERE.

Basically, you take a pile of scraps from your desk and make something with them.
Here's what I made today with some of yesterdays scraps.

The colour combo was Real Red and White with a hint of Silver Glimmer.
Here's the pile of scraps that I used.

The piece of Fresh Prints DSP that was a left over, wasn't big enough to use as the central mat,
on this card, so I pieced it together with a scrap of White which I embossed with
the Textured Impressions Delicate Designs embossing folder
(it looks like a patchwork quilt on the back of this layer!).
I punched an Extra Large Oval out of this piece of DSP before I layered it onto a piece of Whisper White card stock from my scrap box (it had a dirty mark in the middle) which I had gutted and used the
reverse side of the middle piece for the Oval Designer frame which was embossed and then fussy cut out.
The extra large oval piece of DSP was then glued into the oval frame.
I shaped the punched Petite Petal flowers and punched and shaped 1/4" circles for the flower centres,
and cut leaves out (with the Bird Builder Punch) from the scraps of Silver Glimmer Paper.
The sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes was stamped then punched with the Word Window punch.
This was then stuck onto a piece of Real Red (which was punched from the piece of
card stock used for the first layer) using the Modern Label punch.
This was a really Frugal Friday card!!
I did use a completely new white base card - otherwise the other bits were all left overs.

I would like to enter this into

Get Well Cara

One of my Stampers 10 customers, Cara,  has recently been in hospital for over a week,
so now she is home and recuperating, I made this get well card for her.

Colour combo is Coastal cabana, Baked Brown Sugar, Tangerine Tango and So Saffron.
The frame was fussy cut after using the  Textured Impressions Designer frames Embossing Folder,
The flowers were stamped with Petite Petals stamp set and cut with the matching punch.
The flower centres are cut using the Itty Bitty Flower punch, and the white centre is the cut out tiny dots
after using the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch. Leaves cut with the Bird Builder punch.
Sentiment from teeny Tiny Wishes.

Here's wishing you a speedy recovery Cara!

Another Fancy Foil Vellum card

I was so pleased with the Silver Fancy Foil Vellum card that I made yesterday
that I decided to do another one in the Gold.

The recipe is the same as yesterdays card, but instead of ribbon I
have used the new Gold Bakers Twine and instead of Rhinestone
flower centres I have used some gold brads from my stash.
The quality of the vellum is quite substantial and those gold spots are just yummy.
Mmmm - I might just have to do some more of these to keep for myself
(the two I have made have to be given/sent today)

Eileen's Birthday

Tomorrow is one of my friend (and fellow crafter), Eileen's birthday.
She will be 70 years young!.
I decided against putting a number on this card as I was very happy with the finished result,
to have added anything, I think, would have spoiled it.

Colour combo of this is a very simple Silver and White.
The diagonal striped vellum (Silver Fancy Foil Designer Vellum from the Spring Summer Catalogue) )was cut to cover the front of the card with a half inch wrap-over,
at the back, which was stuck down.
Two holes were punched in the front,  1/2" in from the spine and about an inch apart,
and the  Silver 1/8" ribbon was threaded through and tied in a bow.
The Silver Designer frame was embossed then cut out and stuck onto
a rectangle of white card to make the picture frame effect.
The Petite Petals flowers were stamped in Versamark, then heat embossed
with Silver embossing powder, cut out with the matching punch and the petals curled.
The Silver leaves are cut with the Bird Builder punch.
The sentiment (from Petite Pairs stamp set) was similarly heat embossed
using Silver embossing powder, punched with the large oval punch,
then layered onto a punched silver Scallop Oval.
I used double sided tape to attach the vellum to the front of the card
behind the frame and behind the oval where it would not be visible.
I do hope that Eileen likes this - I loved making it!!

Congratulations Catherine

One of my downline demonstrators, Catherine, has achieved her Bronze 2 recently,
and she came to class last night, so I gave her the card that I had made for her.

I used the Gingham Garden Washi tape, Best of Flowers stamp set,
Pool party and White card stock, Designer Frames Embossing folder
and a computer generated sentiment.
The ribbon is 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain in daffodil Delight.

Congratulations Catherine!!

Stippled Blossoms

Here's a card that I have cased from Pinterest.
It has been re-pinned a few times so I am not sure of it's original owner.
If it's yours, please let me know and I will link this post back to your blog.
but I do love it!!

Colour Combo is Sahara Sand and Raspberry Ripple with White.
I embossed the oval frame in the bottom RH corner with the
Textured Impressions Designer frames Embossing Folder-
notice there are no unsightly visible lines where the folder was!
Chris and I have spent quite some time practising this technique.
I stamped the fern spray from Papaya Collage and punched it out using
the Extra Large Oval punch.
I used the Very Vintage wheel for the background at the top of the card.
The flowers are two step stamped with the Stippled Blossoms stamp set.
Leaves punched using the Bird Builder punch.
3/8" stitched satin ribbon in Raspberry Ripple
Voila!!

Papillon Poptpourri

Saw this card on Julie's Blog yesterday and had to case it as I fell in love with it straight away!

Colour Combo is Wisteria Wonder and Pool Party with White.
Stampset is Papillon Potpourri.
Butterflies are stamped on the RHS of the card and the RH edge is fussy cut.
The butterflies are the stamped out again on a spare piece of card stock
but this time they are punched out using the two Butterfly punches.
They are then layered on top of the original images.

You can see the edge detail better in the picture above.

I used the Textured Impressions Designer frames Embossing Folder with pool Party cardstock, then fussy cut out  the oval frame.  Then stamped the greeting
(from Petite pairs stamp set) onto white card.
This was then punched with the Large Oval Frame punch.
A knot-less bow is made with pool Party Ruffled Ribbon tied with matching Bakers Twine.

Comfort Cafe

Can't believe that it's come round to Wednesday again.  Spent the day crafting at
Chris's (sis-in-law's) today and Anita joined us.
We did a few cards and had a good old play again!
here's the first one that we did.

Yes I know that this looks lop sided, but it's obviously something to do with
my lack of photography skills rather than my rubbish crafting.
There is very little stamping on this card - just the writing on the panel - En Francais.
The colour combo used is Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla.
The roses are the Flower Trim, and the leaves are punched using the Bird Builder punch.
The Textured Impressions Designer frames Embossing Folder was used to make the frame,
which I distressed using Crumb Cake ink applied with a dauber.
I used the Crochet trim with 1/4" Vanilla Grosgrain ribbon and
a few basic pearls for embellishments.
Mmmm I like it!!

Twitterpated Patchwork

Here is the card that I have sent to Maria Miia Malmgren in Sweden,
as part of the Post Crossing Handmade Cards swap.

I have used my two favourite papers from the Twitterpated DSP and cut them up into 1.1/4" squares,
then patch-worked them together again and then embossed the piece in the
Textured Impressions Square Lattice Embossing Folder.
I stamped the sentiment from the You Are Loved stamp set onto a piece of
Twitterpated DSP then punched with the extra large oval punch.
I embossed the Baja Breeze frame with the Textured Impressions Designer frames
embossing folder, then fussy cut this out.
The butterflies were die cut with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit die.
Tiny Basic Rhinestones were used for the Butterflies bodies.
I put some spare butterflies inside the card for when Maria opens it - they will "fly"out!
Hope that Maria like this!

Silver Wedding Card

Last week, we had a Stampin' Up! team challenge (Julie's Jems) to make a 25th Anniversary card
to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Stampin' Up!

For the background I stamped the flourish from Creative Elements in Versamark
and heat embossed with Silver Embossing Powder.
I matted this on a layer of Silver card, then onto a white base card.
I used the Memorable Moments stamp set to stamp the 25th Anniversary sentiment.
I then used the Textured Impressions Designer Frames Embossing folder on it,
and fussy cut round the oval embossed frame.
I applied Dazzling Diamonds round the oval border.
I am quite pleased with the overall result!

M is for Molly

On the 1st February it is Molly's birthday (a friend of mine and Barry's).
She is not a crafter, but loves to receive hand made cards
so I made her this.
I can quite safely show you this as she does not use a computer!

The paper is Floral District DSP
Rich Razzleberry card stock, ink and ribbon.
Textured Impressions Designer frames Embossing Folder,
Letter M is from Morning Post Alphabet stamp set
All Stampin' Up products.

The Open Sea

Here's a card for a man - the ones that take ages to come up with an idea for!
Now I can't take credit for the design of the stamped background as Chris (sis-in-law)
stamped a sheet of this last week at my house and kindly gave me a half of it.
I can tell you how it's done though!!

The colour combo is Crumb Cake card stock
with Night of Navy, Marina Mist, More Mustard and Basic Grey inks
and an Ivory base card .
The solid rectangles were stamped with a blank stamp in Marina Mist, More Mustard and Basic Grey.
(Chris used the one that comes with the distressing kit)
The over-stamping was done using Night of Navy and The Open Sea stamp set.
The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set and was stamped
either side of the anchor by using the Stamp-a-ma-jig.
This was  then embossed using the Textured Impressions Designer frames embossing folder.
The oval shape with the sentiment on was then cut out by hand -
sorry there isn't a punch for the outside of this oval (only the inside!).
The stamped background is matted onto the crumb Cake card and a length
of Natural Trim ribbon (available 1st February) is then stuck vertically around this.
This is then mounted onto an Ivory (or Very Vanilla) base card.
The ladies at my Tuesday class can't wait to make this!

Happy Birthday Lucas

Tomorrow is our Grandson Lucas's birthday and he will be 9 years old.
OMG - where has all the time gone!!It doesn't seem two minutes since he was a tiny baby.
I wanted to do a non fussy card - very clean and simple,
so I chose this fancy fold out card.

Card closed with belly band fastened.

Belly band unfastened and removed

The colour combo is Bashful Blue and Whisper White with a touch of Night of Navy (ink).
Front sentiment from Happiest Birthday Wishes, stamped on a large Oval glued onto
a Textured Impressions Designer Frame Embossing Folder.

Poppy Parade

Hello everyone.  I have had a lovely play this morning, making this card featuring what is supposed to be a poppy!  I am not sure about the similarity, but am pleased with the overall card.
Colour Combo: Poppy Parade, Basic Black, Very Vanilla and Old Olive.
Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder used with VV card stock and then softly inked over with a dauber and Basic Gray ink.

The leaves are made using the Little Leaves Sizzlit die and the Blossom punch is used for the poppy. I sponged around the edges of the petals with Black ink.
For the centre of the poppy, I attached stamens round a 3/4" circle of Black, and then punched an Itty Bitty flower out of yellow and inked over to give the centre detail.
Designer Frame Textured Impressions embossing folder used for the Poppy Parade Frame.
Sentiment stamped on Black using Versamark and White embossing powder.

Bordering Romance - Waterfall card

I have been working against the clock to get this card finished so that I can get it posted today - don't want to miss a day!  I have been golfing with Barry at Retford and we didn't get home until 5:30 and then I had my Thursday Crafting Club here until 10 ish.
Lyn has been kind enough to photograph this for me tonight (with her superduperphone!)
It is a colour combo of Rich Razzleberry, Pool Party and Whisper White and the new Bordering Romance stamp-set.  I have cased the design from Monica's blog - so thanks Monica (my SU nannan!!)

CAS You are loved birthday card

Another stampset that we won't be able to buy after the end of the month is You are loved - which has become another of my favourites. Here is a really clean and simple card - colour combo is Sahara Sand and Whisper White. The Textured Impressions Designer frames embossing folder has been used to make the oval frame.
The birthday greeting is a sneak peek of a sentiment in a new stamp-set that will be available when the Summer Mini Catalogue is launched on 1st May. You will get a few more sneak peeks over the next couple of weeks.
The butterflies are cut using the Beautiful Wings embosslit, and compulsory bling of basic Pearl used to define butterflies heads and bodies.

White on White

I have seen several cards made using white on white, so I thought that I would give it a go. I have used White embossing powder on a Versamarked image from the Charming stamp-set. This I have layered on White, on top of a white frame cut out after using the Textured Impressions Designer frames Embossing folder. I threaded the White ribbon over the frame sides and under the Charming image and stuck this on top of the joining line where the two different textured halves of the card meet. These were embossed using the Vintage Wallpaper and the Stripes embossing folders. Then the compulsory bling added - Basic pearls today!
You may have to zoom in to the picture to see the detail of the embossed flower.
I am quite happy with this card - so - who shall I send this one to?
If you would like to receive this card, simply leave me a comment and I will do a draw for the winner (names in hat!) and will post this out to you.

Maggie's Birthday

Hi everyone. Sorry for the very late posting tonight. Barry and I have just returned from visiting Christine (Stuarts widow)and have spent a couple of hours with her and her daughter.
Earlier today, I went over to Chris's (sis-in-law) for our weekly crafting get-together. The card that we made, I have personalised for my sister Maggie's birthday on Sunday.
I can safely post it tonight as Maggie doesn't do blogging!
The colour combo that I have chosen is Pink Pirouette and Basic Gray with Whisper White.
The stamp-set is that old favourite Vintage Vogue and the initial M is from the Broadsheet Alphabet set. The right hand panel of Pink cardstock is embossed using the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder. Once again I have used the Textured Impressions Designer frames Embossing Folder to make the frame for the initial, and usual finishing touches of bling - Basic Pearls.
