Just for you Chris!

I didn't realise that it is over two weeks since I put any real news on here - so here is a mammoth update.
Saturday 14th November - Nephew Stephen's wedding reception Stephen and Sarah married the Saturday before at Gretna Green and they had their reception for all the family on the 14th. (Stephen is sister Maggie's son and Sarah is Stephen's 2nd wife).
Had an enjoyable evening, but Maggie was upset because their minibus was a whole hour late picking them up. Don't use Elite taxis - they let you down!
Even worse, when they were picked up (late again) they were dropped off at home and someone realised that the letter box with all the wedding cards (containing money) in it, had been left in the minibus/van. Phone calls to Elite reassured them that the box would be quite safe in the taxi, and they would be able to pick up the box in the morning. Next morning, guess what - the taxi had been "broken into" overnight and surprise surpeise - all the money had gone and the cards had been left! Don't use Elite Taxi's. I am not sure what has happened since on this one, I know that the police were advised but not much else. Needless to say Maggie and Ger (and Stephen and Sarah) have been understandably upset about this. Maggie and Ger have had a well earned holiday in Tenneriffe and I haven't had chance to have a catch up with Maggie yet to find out anything more.
Nothing much different happened during the week other than spent Monday at home instead of golfing with the Monday club as we had Cavity wall insulation done.Tuesday Craft class as normal. Wednesday Christine (s-i-l)came to me and we visited Dimension 4th at Barnsley and treated ourselves to some Promarkers then home to make the Trendy trees card (yummy) Wednesday and Thursday Craft class as normal. Friday was Classique for my facial and usual Friday night shopping with brother.
Saturday morning (21st) it was foggy and damp so didn't golf, but Barry went on his own brave soul! Christine (s-i-l) and I went up to Pudsey to join Julie's Stampin Up Class and made eight cards in 2 hours!! These are fabulous cards and I will be "case"ing (Copy and share everything) some of these for my 5 for a fiver class!!.
Saturday evening it was Barnsley and Penistone Masonic Association annual social at Cockerham Lane, so another evening of fab food and fun (Barry did a lot of dancing tonight so it was extra enjoyable).
Sunday was another wet and miserable day so I made stew and dumplings for Sunday dinner and it was scrumptious - truly truly scrumptious! I spent an hour sweeping up all the wet and soggy leaves from the pavement at the front whilst Barry went to B& Q to buy fixings to repair the dining room door handle.I started prepping the cards for my 5 for a fiver event and planned what I need to order from SU for this.
Prepped cards for this weeks classes - had a most productive day!.
Monday 23rd did 14 holes of golf with the Monday Club ladies (Joan H and Jan) then had a late lunch with them. Went to Morrisons for a little shopping, then down to Joan C's house to help her with a few PC problems she has (PC as in Personal Computer - not politically correct I might add!)
Tuesday usual routine - Keith's market stall - bought some more red card (for my Christmas cards!!) and a couple of cuttlebug dies and embossing folders. Then Aquarobics and Card Class. Took car to Lineside to see if they could fix the door switch that Christine (s-i-l) had vandalised last Wednesday when we went to Dimension forth!!. They ordered me a new switch ready to fit the next day.
Made one dozen Christmas cards Tuesday evening - felt good - only another 9 dozen to make!! I am using a simple template and mass producing these in different colourways.
Wednesday I went to Christines (s-in-l) and we made two beautiful SU cards using the pocket sillhouettes stamp set. They were beautiful though I say it myself. Will do a class on these as soon as my next order gets here- possibly not this year as there are not enough weeks left! Something to look forward to next year! Had a lovely lunch - stir fried chicken and veg - yummy, then straight to Lineside for switch to be fitted - not too painful - only cost £9.99. Home and dinner for Barry and me - guess what I had made earlier for tea? Chicken casserole - but it was still yummy- no wonder Barry and i are putting on weight! Wednesday Craft Class did two Christmas cards that are easy to utilise for other occasions, not just Christmas.
Thursday was housework day - 2 loads of washing and another load to iron. Had to dry them on the radiators and in the tumble-drier so that I could get all the ironing done and out of the way. Thursday evening craft class went with a bang - literally! My pump-flask that we use for the hot water for the coffee and tea, imploded as soon as I picked it up! Boiling water all over the kitchen floor! What a mess. Decided to take it back to Argos and see what they would do.
Friday - you wouldn't believe what I crammed in on Friday! 9:00 a.m. picked up brother Steve and went to Barnsley where we had bacon butty and mug of tea, then started the annual expedition in search of Steve's Christmas presents for family and friends. Purchased all but one (Barry's) then home for lunch- tea and toast - couldn't eat too much as it was Ladies Night that evening. Phoned baby brother up (Chris) for recommendations on which laptop Steve should buy. Did the deed online, then charged off to Meadowhall Retail Park to pick it up from PC world. Back home to ours to use our wireless router to download MS security essential onto it, left it downloading whilst we then went for his weekly grocery shop at Morrisons. Whilst Steve shopped I went into Argos and was quite surprised to find (though I don't know why)to get a full cash refund for my broken pump-flask as they were unable to locate another locally. Took a phone call from Barry, who was trying to get 3 more people to come to Ladies Evening as for various reasons 3 people couldn't make it. We managed to "persuade" Christine and David and Michelle (golfing) to join us for a free dinner dance at Ardsley House.
Picked up Steve's laptop from ours (now fully secure) and dropped him and shopping off at his, then back home, had a quick shower, washed hair then changed into going out gear and went to hairdressers (with wet hair!) for party style hairdo - its just the usual style but with gold glitter added! Home again for make up and then ready for the off.
Had a great evening and I am sure that everyone else did. I had the mushroom strogonoff just for a change and it was delicious. Ladies gift was a lovely scarf which was most acceptable. I drove everyone back to ours, we had a drink, then Michelle left for home and Christine and David stayed over at hours.
Saturday morning - wet and miserable and I HAD to go golfing as Glynis and I were playing in the Crowther doubles matchplay against Mary (lady Captain) and Hazel. It was hard work, but we eventually won on the 17th with two up and onlyone to play. We all went into the clubhouse and had hot drinks and sandwiches before setting off back home. Barry and I went to Costco at Sheffield (Parkway)to buy a new pump flask for me and to get one for SU Julie for when she gets her new craft studio! Wasn't tempted to buy anything else but enjoyed sampling various food and drinks whilst there!! After Costco we then drove over to Docaster to Direct Golf where we both bought a few bits and bobs, then home (via Morrisons for fresh bread and ham)for a much needed tea. Relaxed with a few silly games on the laptop, caught up with Corrie, then into craft room to decide on what stuff to order for my 5 for a fiver class. Put together my order online with SU, can now sit back and wait for it to arrive.
This morning I have got up and watched Friday's I'm a celebrity (out of order I know! and sat updating this blog. Today I am only doing crafting and dinner!
See ya!

Last old style posting

Well folks, I am going to redesign my blog and try to make it look a little more business like! So here is the last of the old style postings for you.....
Sunday lunchtime I picked Anne-Marie and Dale up from the trains station at Wombwell and took them up to ours. I started preparing the dinner and Adam and Katy came up to see Anne-Marie. Later on Adam took her to John's place to see him again. We had tea, then relaxed until 7:30 when Barry went and fetched Mag, Ger and Stevie. Adam and Katy came down and we had a select little gathering to celebrate AM's birthday. we had a lovely evening and AM got a little tipsy!!
Monday morning, I droppred AM and Dale off at Hoyland Common whilst I went to Pudsey (is that how you spell it?) I went to Julie's to make a sample board displaying all the colour range of SU papers, markers and inkpads. Julie also showed us how to make a little gift box. Went home and picked AM & D up from Teresa's and then they gathered all their bits up (only 5 bags!!) and I took them back to the train station.
Monday evening I had Thursday Craft Class (because I had an evening do booked for this Thursday) We did the CC scalloped aperture card and once again everyone enjoyed it.
Tuesday morning, went to Keiths early doors (had had a text from Jill saying that they had some Nestabilities in!) and bought a few nesties, then dashed back home for Tuesday Craft Class. Did the same card with them as the Monday Class.
Chris B came over after work, and after a quick tea, we set off for Goole, for my SU training meeting. We had a lovely time, making a couple of cards and a gift box, and Monica very kindly gave us one of her convention swaps - a lovely decorated ruler! Came home very tired, but very happy!
Wednesday, was my turn to go to Christines, and we made a "Magnolia" sat on bauble Christmas card. She loaned me a card that she had made at a workshop so that I could do a class with it (which we did that evening with the Wednesday Class) and I promised to lend Chris my bauble stamp in return. Wednesday Craft class went very well with everyone being well pleased with their "crossover" card.
Thursday morning, I woke up feeling dreadful. I had a really bad head and felt quite sick, was sneezing and coughing, and felt generally unwell. Barry and I had to go to Sheffield for Aunty Renie's funeral, so I dragged myself out of bed to attend this, then left as soon as was decently possible. Barry took me home, and I got undressed and fell asleep whilst he went back to work. Thursday evening there was a Ladies after lodge at Eastgate, so once again, I dragged myself off the sofa and went out. I felt consiferably better for having company, but was glad to get back home and get to bed.
Today, I have picked up Stevie and we have been to Barnsley for a little shop. On the way to Barnsley I was stopped by the police (who were stopping all the vehicles- I might add) for a "winter check" They checked tyres, headlights, brakelights indicators (and I demonstrated that the windscreen wipers worked fine too - by mistake!) They asked when my car had it's MOT done and I said I thought it was August, apparently they could not find a record of it on the computer, so asked me to take my MOT certificate to Wombwell Police station. The policeman did say that he believed me when I said it had a valid certificate, he said I had an honest face!!! I told him that we would be late getting to Barnsley to go to M& S for the latest penny bazaar bargains! When we did get to barnsley, we had to queue up out the door of M&S but did manage to get five things for a penny apiece, plus a donation to charity! After M & S we went to the market cafe and had a cuppa and a bacon butty - mmm that was delish! Then we went round the market, into Boots and poundland (cos I can't resist this) then a couple more shops then back home. We had a drink, picked up the MOT certificate, called at Stevie's and picked up Katie, then set off to do the grocery shopping at Morrisons. We stopped off at Wombwell police station and I produced my MOT for them, then did the shopping and came home. This means that I don't have to go out again tonight, I can just get into my PJs after tea and relax all evening. Benidorm has finished now, so I will miss watching it. Wonder whats on in its place?
Anyway thats all for now, Please keep reading this blog cos it won't all be business - indeed it might turn out totally different- anything could happen!

See ya!

Golfing again

Well it's been a beautiful day for golf and I have really enjoyed the fresh air. It got a bit cold towards the end of the round, but was really bracing. Did a reasonable front 9 but once again the back 9 was absolute rubbish. Stayed and had a sandwich at the club house whilst I waited for Mary (Lady Captain) to finish her round, then had a quick word before going back home.
On Wednesday I had decided not to go to the Heritage, as Christine was coming over for the day, so I thought that I would save the visit until Thursday. Instead I made Maggie's and Ethan's Wedding Cards for Stephen and Sarah and made a start on mine and Stevie's at the same time. Nicky came to collect his cards before the ladies came for our Wednesday Craft Class. We did the bauble aperture card and once again had very satisfactory results.
Thursday morning Christine came over and we started off at the Heritage Centre where I spent a small amount and Chris spent an even smaller amount. We then went to the Blue Bell and had a very pleasant lunch. Then back home and I went to the Hairdressers for my hair cutting, and we both had a cup of coffee there with Michelle and Gemma. Back home we made sure that we had all the stuff we needed for our night at the WI at Ingbirchworth where we were making Christmas cards. We didn't have time to play with our purchases, wwe just had a quick sandwich, then dropped Barry off in Barnsley and went on to Ingbirchworth. Most of the ladies were very pleasant and really enjoyed the cardmaking. Apparently one lady declined the opportunity and just sat and watched everyone else! After we had finished it was time for a welcome cup of tea and a fresh homemade buttered scone for me - Chris has far more determination than me and just had the cuppa! We then went home, in the dark, and it was quite foggy by then. Was glad to get home, and felt sorry for Chris having to drive down the motorway back to hers.
Friday was a very lazy day, spent doing a bit of housework, a bit of TV watching, a little bit of playing silly games on the computer and a little bit of crafting. Usual fish and chips for tea - Barry doesn't let me down! Took Steveie shopping then settled down to watch Benidorm - it was the last in the series - will miss it next week. Had a nice cuppa tea, then went to bed.
This evening, I have been to Morrisons, to fetch some bits and bobs, plus a birthday cake for Baby sister Anne Marie, who is coming up from Manchester tomorrow and staying overnight. We are having a little family celebration for those of us who can make it (Jane's in London and won't get back in time). I have done really well craft-wise tonight, I have made a birthday card, a golden Wedding card and a Silver Wedding card. One of these days I will get organised and post photos of these things as I make them!
Thats enough for now - tarra!

Where do the days go?

Hi again. On Sunday, what a dismal wet day that was - I went over to Heathers and she took me to Costco so that I knew where it was and what to do. Had my photo taken for my card then we spent some time, me looking round and Heather doing shopping. We did get a real bargain though - 2 chickens priced at £6.49 with 50% off, so you can guess what we've been eating for the past few days!! I have made a chicken in red wine casserole and chicken curry as well as having plain roast chichen on Sunday!! Think that barry's fed up with chicken now - although it is far healthier than red meat! Sunday evening packed up all my stuff and finished the make and take preparation and made Heathers demo thank you card.
Monday, went to Morrisons early doors to get flowers for Heather as a thank you for the workshop. Then over to Jackies for our regular get together. As it was another wet and windy day we didn't go out, we just sat and chatted, catching up with the news. Tom once again prepared us a lovely lunch and for desert we had a super pudding topped with Tom's homemade lavender ice-cream. I can thoroughly recommend this! Back home, Barry's tea made, set off to Heathers for her workshop. Had tea with Heather, John, James,Amy and friend - guess what we had? Yup - chicken - it was delicious and I hadn't had to cook it so it was even more enjoyable.
There were quite a few people turned up for the workshop, and we did have an enjoyable time despite there not being many crafters there, as the sales reflected. Everyone really enjoyed their make and take, it was the first time that a lot of the people had tried stamping, and they were well impressed with the punches. However it was a good evening and I did see Liz and Winnie (ex DV colleagues) and it was good to see them again. Went home and was utterly shattered so flopped on sofa and Barry and i watched Flashforward together, then Corrie, then off to bed.
Tuesday morning, once again a wet and dismal morning, so I didn't venture out until after craft class. We made a Christmas aperture card, which was quite complicated, but everyone managed to complete it and was quite happy with their results. Liz and I went on to the market to see what Keith had to offer. Bought some spray adhesive, but was annoyed that I had not gone earlier when he said that he had had some Christmas nestabilities that morning, but they had all (obviously) been sold. That'll teach me to get out and about early never mind the weather! Back home Liz and I both relaxed with a sandwich and a well earned cuppa and I enjoyed hearing all about her recent holiday in Brazil (She's been away for 3 weeks the lucky thing!)
Last night Jane came down to spend the evening with me so we had a relaxing evening, catching up on all the news, and I showed her the tri shutter card, which she made (with the use of the SU guillotine ) and was well impressed with how easy it was, and how quick to make the card. She was thrilled with the card and it really was beautiful - all lilac and pink and flowery - just my sort of card. Went to bed not long after Jane had left - quite an early night really.
Today I have the day to myself - can't decide whther or not to go to the Heritage Centre or not - I'll only spend if I go. I have to put inserts in three cards that Nicky is collecting this evening so I had better go and do this now whilst I remember.
See ya!
